I would love to be here to say that this stay was a âVacation Valhallaâ but it was more accurately a Vacation from Hell. Itâs on a hill right nextdoor to a marijuana grow operation that the backyard overlooks which brought up some Interesting discussion at the Christmas dinner table with my teenager. They did let us check in early, thank God, because unloading a week worth of luggage and groceries up the 5 sets of stairs would have been a nightmare at night, especially with the broken stair they didnât manage to repair before our week long stay even tho we booked it 3 months in advance. Our friends came up for the day with their toddler who left with a shiner after smacking his eye on one of the bare hollow polls sticking out of the fuzzball table that was missing a rubber handle. If youâre still thinking about staying be sure you prepare for cold weather inside. They have a Nest and have it set to override your settings to keep the cabin at 50-60 degrees. It took us a couple nights to realize we had to get up at 12:30, 4 & 7am to turn up the thermostat every night. Then there was the plumbing. The downstairs toilet flushed half the time and the washer overflowed flooding the downstairs hallway. Upon inspection we realized there is significant water damage and mold down the wall behind the washer so theyâve likely been neglecting this issue for a while. Lastly, the multiple exposed sharp metal brackets sticking up on the retaining wall deterred us from using the backyard.
Great location. As Described. Not The Best Communication
Everything was as described.
Location was clean and everything was smooth.
I sent messages well before reservation dates but didn't hear back until day of check-in. Also reached out on final day to see get clarity on check-out process with no response. It didn't make a big difference, but something to keep in mind. I'd recommend sending multiple messages in multiple methods if you don't hear back in a reasonable timeframe.
The place was great though.
The house was not clean when we arrived. All dirty sheets and towels were on the floor. Bathrooms were not clean. The property does not have parking in the winter. We had 4WD vehicles and could not make it up the driveway and there was nowhere else to park. We hauled all of our gear in, suitcases and coolers, up the icy driveway all of those stairs only to find it a mess. We left immediately.
