This hotel does not exist!

The biggest problem with Hotel San Francesco is that it does not exist. There used to be such a hotel in Assisi, but it has been permanently closed for some time now, though it accepted my reservation AFTER it had closed. Hotels.com was prompt in giving my my refund, but arriving in a tourist city in the middle of high season with a 2-week reservation to discover that your hotel doesn't exist is, to say the least, a nightmare. Hotels.com says that cannot take down that posting.

After driving 3 hours this hotel was CLOSED! We spoke to people next door and they said they have been closed for months! This was a confirmed reservation !, we had to find another hotel and pay 3times the price. Will never use Expedia again. We lost a lot of our vacation time searching for a last minute hotel.

Hotel was closed when we arrived at doorstep

Hotel was closed when my family of four arrived at the hotel doorstep in May 2018. Hotel did not pick up the phone calls after numerous calling. Left my family and I stranded without accommodation in the cold and rain. Irresponsible behaviour of the hotel.

I indfromed you that we arived in asisi to find that this hotel was closed ( out of business) We had no where to stay in Assisi and had to have the taxi driver take us around town to find a hotel with a room avaialble I have requested a refind from you plus 115 Euro that it cost us to be driven around assisi to find a hotel

The hotel was closed for the season and neither Expedia or Hotel Francesco notified us! As we were dropped and the hotel was closed for the season!

Great location

If you want to enjoy a view of the basilica then this hotel is great. Make sure you ask for a room with view when you book. Well priced but virtually no soundproofing between rooms so you can hear everything. Rooms are very tired but clean. Would recommend for location but nothing else.

Excellent Location and Nice Hotel

We only spent one night at Hotel San Francesco in Assisi but we had a great time. The Hotel is located as close as you can get to the magnificent Basilica of San Francesco/St. Francis of Assisi. The hotel is quiet and clean, the staff friendly and helpful. Rooms are small but were more than adequate for our needs. Breakfast was excellent. Overall a very reasonable value. Recommended.

Wonderful town. Awesome scenes of valley below and hills above. Walking the cobblestone streets at night takes you back centuries.

I had a very small room and small single bed in a room with old decor and enough dust on top of the wardrobe to write my name in. The bathroom was a joke- no heat, on 3 levels, tiny, with a tiny hip bath as a shower.

perfect location

close to the Basilica San Francesco, happy to go to church in the morning. Later walk around Assisi, visiting the historical center, eating in nice restaurants.

Beautiful hotel in an amazing city

We had a wonderful time. Beautiful A+ hotel. Perfect A+ location. Service was B+ at reception desk and for breakfast. A little higher price than others but worth the difference.

The room was minimalist, the breakfast was OK, the staff was very friendly and helpful. The on-site restaurant is geared to travel groups and would recommend you eat elsewhere. Parking anywhere in Assisi is problematic, but if you don't mind a bit of a walk, excellent parking is available for 5 euros at Parcheggio San Giacomo.

Spartan hotel but great location. Furnishings are a bit dated. Good breakfast. Ask for a room with exterior view. Room 331 is on corner with great views of basilica.

Perfect weekend getaway in Assisi

It was beautiful, extremely nice, the service was outstanding and the location was great. The room and bathroom were very comfortable. I highly recommend this hotel and will be returning myself. Best sunset on the terrace in all of Italy.

Great location but don't take a car

Amazing view of the San Francesco chiesa from the roof terrace. We had a car with us and the whole city was almost impossible to navigate through via car. But the hotel room was great (stayed in Superior Room - great toiletries and air conditioning)

The San Francesco hotel is in a perfect location next to the Basilica & with spectacular views from the roof terrace! I had booked the room facing the Basilica but the air conditioning was weak & the room very hot so after a sleepless nightI spoke to the management & was moved to a newly updated room with excellent air conditioning for the remainder of my stay. I enjoyed my stay at the hotel- the location is perfect!
