We went there for new year celebration and I was in touch with there customer service WhatsApp where they informed me they are going to have some good celebration followed by a firework at 12am. This was all before I booked. The moment I booked and shared the info, I was informed that there Ll not be any fireworks this year unlike any other year. But there Ll be some celebration. After checking a few times whether we need to book a table for the event I was repeatedly informed it is walking for the hotel guests but when reached to the event it is all pre booked n we have no tables there. The hotel was fully booked and they have only 10-15 table setup there. Then everyday breakfast was a battle for the table and food. U Ll be waiting in queue to reach to the table and then to the food. They were overwhelmed with the guest but very few staff to cater. The table was offered way tooooo far from the buffet which was a task and we end up not taking the breakfast on the second day. The coffee machine takes forever for a cup so the wait time for coffee was min 10-15 min and many of the guest gave up. The property is in very bad shape. Our door was full mouldy and the floor is broken here and there. U have stayed in many Marriott hotels and resorts around the world but this one is no where a 5star property. May be it was in some point in time. The worst stay of my life. And totally spoiled my new year eve.

The rooms are large, clean and comfortable. The bathrooms are also huge and lovely to use. The staff are impeccable in their welcome and service quality. The restaurants provide superb food at all meals. The only trouble is that the total seating of the restaurants is far short of the number of guests, leading to long queues at breakfast and the need to book tables well in advance to ensure you get a spot. At breakfast, they eventually opened up Prego retaurant and the function room to cater for the breakfast crowd.

It’s a good resort for couple of days at reasonable cost. Many different pools are available for children. Expect high cost for food and spa inside hotel . Since it’s a resort more engaging activities for adults will be good , though there are few available.

Review for The Westin Desaru Coast Resort I recently stayed in a one-bedroom suite. 1. Air Conditioning Issue in the Bedroom The bedroom air conditioning was not functioning properly throughout my stay. Although cold air was present in the vents, the blower wasn’t working, so the room never cooled effectively. I had to call maintenance three times. On the second visit, I was present and the technician confirmed the blower issue. I informed the front desk and specifically requested the blower be replaced while I was out on a day trip. Unfortunately, when I returned, I received a message saying the AC had been serviced, along with a suggestion to use the ceiling fan to help circulate air — which ironically highlighted the exact problem: cold air wasn’t being circulated due to the faulty blower. At that point, I gave up and endured the room temperature as it was. 2. Dinner Availability for Guests One evening, all the hotel’s restaurants were fully booked for dinner, leaving no option for hotel guests without prior reservations. I was traveling with my two-year-old and had to travel out of the hotel (as advised by concierge) to a nearby town 20 minutes away, only to find every recommended restaurant packed due to the long weekend. This was not flagged to us beforehand. We ended up returning and ordering food via Grab. It would be helpful if the hotel considered reserving a few tables each night for walk-in hotel guests.
