The pretty town of Bewdley, once described as the most perfect Georgian town in Worcestershire lies on the banks of the River Severn and offers a good choice of pubs, restaurants, cafes, antique and craft galleries, as well as the Severn Valley Railway. Overlooking the nearby village of Kinver is the impressive Kinver Edge, a sandstone ridge covering 300 acres and offering long distant views of the surrounding area, along with Iron Age hill forts and cave-houses, which were occupied until the mid-1900s, and why not sample the wines at the local vineyard at Astley. Also close by is Stourbridge, famous for its glassmaking and some of the best attractions in the country, including the West Midlands Safari Park, plus Ironbridge Gorge and the Royal Air Force Museum at Cosford are within driving distance. The medieval town of Stratford-upon-Avon, birthplace of William Shakespeare, the beautiful Malvern Hills, Ludlow, Warwick with its magnificent castle and Bridgnorth, along with many unspoilt Cotswold towns and villages also make a memorable day out.
