Blythe Hotel & Travel Guide

Blythe is on the California side of the California-Arizona border, resting on the Colorado River amid the vast expanses of the Sonoran Desert. With a location halfway between Los Angeles and Phoenix, hotels in Blythe are popular with long-distance travelers looking for a break from the road. However, it's not just the convenience of its location that makes Blythe appealing—prime opportunities for recreation on the river, as well as several fine parks and local museums, are among the attractions of this desert crossroads.

Visiting Blythe

Blythe is approximately 100 miles north of Yuma International Airport, the closest major airport to the city. The only convenient transportation option from the airport into town is by rental car. After arriving and checking in at your pick of Blythe hotels, you'll quickly discover why the city is a great destination for outdoor recreation. Boasting easy access to a navigable 90-mile stretch of the Colorado River between Blythe and Yuma, the area entices you to spend your days boating, canoeing, kayaking, or water skiing. Visit Mayflower Park to admire the riverfront and perhaps have a picnic or barbecue—this park is just one of eight parks where you can enjoy beautiful scenery. If you're a golfer, bring your clubs and hit the links at the city's 18-hole course. Reserve one of many Blythe rental cars, and take a short drive to the Blythe Intaglios site to see six remarkable prehistoric petroglyphs scraped into the surface of the desert. The motifs depict humans and animals up to 171 feet in length, and they are estimated to be up to 2,900 years old. Day trips from Blythe to Phoenix, about 150 miles to the east, are also an option. If you want to spend more than a few hours in the city, book a room at one of the resorts in Phoenix for a night or two.
