Mountain views from the terrace. A private hot tub after a day exploring. A warm Icelandic cottage to come home to.
Welcome to Klettur, a cosy retreat for up to seven guests in the countryside of West Iceland. With three bedrooms, an inviting living area and a large terrace, it is a place for families and friends to enjoy both the adventures and the quieter moments of an Icelandic holiday.
Discover waterfalls in Borgarfjörður, make a day of the Snæfellsnes peninsula or simply stay home and enjoy the view. At Klettur, there is room in your holiday for all three.
THE WARMTH OF AN ICELANDIC SUMMERHOUSE
Built in the traditional Icelandic summerhouse style, Klettur is well insulated and comfortable throughout the year.
The open kitchen and living area keep everyone connected. Prepare breakfast while the day’s plans take shape, settle into the generous corner sofa or gather for a film after dinner.
Three cosy bedrooms offer space to rest, while Wi-Fi makes it easy to stay connected and plan your next outing. The cottage has one shared bathroom.
It is a welcoming place to take off your walking boots, unpack and feel at home.
YOUR PRIVATE HOT TUB AND TERRACE
The large terrace gives you another place to enjoy the surroundings.
Start with coffee in the fresh air, prepare dinner on the barbecue or relax in the outdoor seating with the landscape around you. A lawn beside the cottage provides room for children to play nearby.
Your private hot tub seats up to six people at a time. After a day on the road, sink into the warm water and take your time enjoying the mountain views.
In summer, linger outside in Iceland’s long evening light. During the darker months, clear skies and the right aurora conditions may bring the northern lights into view.
MEALS TOGETHER, AT YOUR OWN PACE
The kitchen is equipped for cooking and baking, with cookware and tableware for meals at home.
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast before heading out, pack lunch for a day exploring or pick up ingredients for dinner on the way back. With the kitchen open to the living area, preparing a meal keeps you part of the conversation.
Having your own cottage gives you the freedom to shape each day around your group, whether that means an early start or a slow morning together.
BORGARFJÖRÐUR: WATERFALLS, HOT SPRINGS AND HISTORY
Klettur is a countryside base for exploring the varied landscapes of Borgarfjörður.
Visit Hraunfossar, where streams emerge from the lava field, and nearby Barnafoss. See the steaming geothermal waters at Deildartunguhver, explore historic Reykholt or discover the volcanic scenery around Grábrók.
Choose a few stops for a relaxed day out, with time to enjoy the countryside along the way. Returning to the same cottage each evening lets you explore without packing up every morning.
SNÆFELLSNES: A DAY OF COASTAL DISCOVERIES
Set aside a full day for the Snæfellsnes peninsula, with its fishing villages, rugged coastline and volcanic landscapes.
Plan your route around the places that interest you most, from coastal stops to the scenery of Snæfellsjökull National Park. Give yourself time to stop along the way and choose an itinerary that suits the season and the weather.
Afterwards, return to Klettur for a meal together and a relaxing soak in your private hot tub.
BORGARNES FOR CAFÉS, DINING AND SUPPLIES
Borgarnes offers groceries, shops, cafés, restaurants and museums. Stop for lunch, explore the town or pick up something for the barbecue before returning to the countryside.
It is a useful part of staying at Klettur: access to town services, varied day trips and a peaceful place to spend your evenings.
LEAVE TIME FOR THE COTTAGE
Not every day needs a full itinerary.
Share breakfast, watch the changing light from the terrace or curl up on the sofa with a book. Let the children play on the lawn and take your time over dinner.
Between the waterfalls and coastal drives, leave room for the simple pleasure of being here together.
