Stunning villa in Perybere a short walk to main beach areas. Adjacent hotel/restaurant not open but a few good restaurants/coffee shops in the area. Pool and gardens led to a relaxing holiday, we spent most of our time outdoors. Geraldine looked after us well and is a fabulous cook. Kierah (?) was equally fabulous cleaning the house twice a week. The villa itself is beautifully laid out with everything you need at hand.
The villa surpasses expectations. It really is beautiful and having the massive pool next door is a real bonus for playing pool games!
My only disappointment is that the hotel/facilities next door were all closed and so we needed taxis to get anything to eat in Grand Baie etc. We definitely should have been told ahead of time that nothing was open as I had booked on the basis we would have the easy option of eating next door for breakfast, lunch or dinner on some days.
While I had really high hopes for this place, both the property and the property manager let it down. If I could score zero stars I would.
My family and I had two primary requirements for our trip: a private pool and air conditioning. Prior to booking, I emailed to confirm it was a fully air conditioned property which was confirmed. After tonnes of research, we realized that these two requirements resulted in, on average, an extra couple of thousand on the total price for the duration we were staying, compared to properties without these two amenities. After tonnes of discussion we decided to go with it, it was our first family Christmas vacation and we wanted it to be special.
Unfortunately that was not to be. When we arrived, we were in cyclone alert, so our pool pump was turned off. Totally fine, it was going to be turned back on the next day. However in doing that the property manager broke it and we were without a pool for the duration. Similarly, when we arrived there was no air con in the room that we spent all of our time: the kitchen and the living room. It was unbearable and again was blamed on a broken part and it being the holidays.
On departure, I shared with the property manager my thoughts and how I felt we should be compensated. She just didnât get it. She kept making up excuses. For example, keep all the windows open and there is a large pool next door. While I understand that she may not have been able to fix these things (Iâm an extremely reasonable person, I understand these things happen) we should have been compensated. The funny thing is however, we were told they are selling the property, and based on my experience with them, I would not be surprised if they never spend money on repairing these things so approach with caution.
Iâm never one to complain but it genuinely ruined something we were so looking forward to as a family. After I shared my concerns, the property manager emailed back and forth with our local contact and did not realize I was still on copy saying to stop replying and I am the most difficult guest while all I wanted was to be fairly compensated for a ruined vacation. We were sold something we did not get and that is false advertisement.
In all honesty, while in the pictures this place looks nice, youâre not guaranteed you will get what you pay for and when youâre dealing with someone who just doesnât get that, itâs not worth the hassle and heartache.
