Spotless, very charming room, easy check in. But I desperately need another harsher. This stand alone addicted on the back of the house is not serviceable in this weather without an additional heater to to the one supplied. I’ve slept in my overcoat and an hat all night long.

Such a cozy stay! We loved the room and the location of the hotel is phenomenal. Even though it was off season, we found more than enough to do and the hotel’s proximity to everything was great! Definitely will stay here again if we ever come back to the area.

You ask how the kitchen was for cooking? What kitchen? The only amenity offered was a set up for morning coffee or tea. What good is it when neither milk, nor half & half nor artificial creamer were present. There is so little security that the front door of the building does not lock. Just because this building is owned by Chalfont does not allow them to pretend that the experience is the same. "You get what you pay for still rings true."

We had a nice stay at the Chalfonte. We didn't realize when we booked that the main hotel was closed for the season, but it was easy enough to find the Southern quarters and check in. It seemed like it was a bit not secure given the lack of staff and the method of retrieving our keys (envelopes out on the table with names on them and keys inside), but overall things worked out. The room was really hot during the middle of the night and there wasn't a way to change it without impacting all of the other rooms, but that's part of the charm of an old hotel! I enjoyed reading the Chalfonte history book from the nightstand!

Very charming room and very clean. Found street parking right outside. Room was right next to a kitchen area, and I noticed coffee perking there as we were leaving. TV was great. Temperatures were artic that night, and the heating was noisy enough to disturb one person's sleep. The location in Cape May is only a few blocks from the mall...easy walking. Considering the location and the nice room, this was an absolute steal...exceptionally good value. We agreed it would be where we try to stay next December if available.

One front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. Another person seemed helpful at the time, but did not follow through on addressing the electrical issue in my room. Charming historical hotel. Great little bar right in the hotel. Very pretty lobby with fireplaces and seating.

Beautiful old building. Rooms are small, but just enough for what we needed. The staff were amazing. The several fireplaces going made it feel very cozy.

The room was nice and very clean, only downside is the poor wi-fi signal stregth so much so that my mobil network was faster and the remote for the cable hooked up to tv wasn't connected to work the volume or power on/off the tv so I had to get up each time to do so.

What a cool hotel. The location was perfect - halfway between the shopping and the beach - and the atmosphere was really nice. The hotel is definitely older but in that intangible historic way. We had a small room for a quick weekend getaway and it was just perfect. It seems like they are slowly renovating throughout the hotel so I hope they don't strip away the character. The small winding hallways and the peculiar room layouts (including small closets and sinks in the bedrooms) all made the place that much more unique. I felt that I was on the set of an old movie. The Magnolia Room is closed for the season but the King Edward Bar was really a hidden gem. The food was phenomenal (my wife is vegetarian and they had some good options) - he pimento cheese, cauliflower risotto, and roasted oysters were all excellent - but the kitchen closes early. We stopped by both nights and it looked dead but was absolutely PACKED for the late night crowd. What a fun hotel, I am definitely going to make this my base whenever I am staying in Cape May.

There is a small kitchen area with a fridge, coffee pot, and tea pot, no other amenities available. The room was warm which was nice with the cold winds outside. We did not interact with any staff members except via phone call and they were extremely friendly, we did visit during the off season which is why we didnt see any staff members, but the room was very clean and cozy. One thing to note is that this hotel and many others in this area are historic, so no elevators and many steps, very charming but if you are older or have balance or mobility issues just be cautious of where you book and ask for a first floor room when and if possible! Just a heads up.
