Pretty stone cottage near the village of Pendoylan
Kingfisher is the larger of our two stone cottages - it has been carefully and lovingly converted from our pretty stone barn .
The property is perfect for a family as it has two generous bedrooms - these can either be configured as twins or doubles or a mixture of both. Puffy duvets, crisp cotton bedding and fluffy towels are provided as standard to make your stay with us as comfortable as possible.
The spacious white bathroom is fully tiled and has both a shower and a bath for your convenience.
The fully equipped kitchen is open plan to the living area so your chef can still be part of the family! The kitchen has everything you need to make your stay comfortable including full size oven/grill/hob, fridge with freezer compartment, microwave and washer drier. The cupboards are well stocked with pots, pans, crockery, cutlery and glasses.
The living area is comfortable with two small settees and a small dining room table. You will find a plentiful supply of books and games to keep you and your family entertained.
The cottage is carpeted throughout apart from the bathroom which is tiled. A combi boiler ensures our guests have instant hot water and heating should they need it.
Kingfisher benefits from two south facing patios where our guests can can sit with a glass of wine and enjoy the wonderful views of the surrounding countryside . You are welcome to enjoy our beautiful Secret Garden complete with fairy lights, firepit and bbq (subject to availability).
There is ample safe off road parking for your cars and bikes.
We welcome your canine family members but politely ask that you do not allow them sleep on the beds.
Our hosts were great. Had a problem with tv. Sorted next day. Beds wre great as was WiFi. Had a great stay. Living area (kitchen/lounge)a little tight for 4 adults but only spent a short while in that area as out all day. Would come back again .
In all, the place was in general a nice place too stay. I would recommend too bring a fan as there is no air conditioning or fans supplied. I was able too purchase one at a big supermarket a few miles away.
I wouldn't recommend the Kingfisher cabin we stayed in for families with very small children due to some steep steps from the corridor down too the kitchen. Older children no problem.
The host seemed nice enough and didn't bother us.
The property allows pets but dogs must kept on a lead in the yard and walking wise there isn't really anything nearby within walking distance too let the dog off the lead but there are woods and beaches within driving distance.
In all the property was nice and i would think of booking again in the future.
Positives: Hosts were very helpful; Plenty of parking; Easy access to the property; Bedroom linens new and very comfortable, Full kitchen, including a freezer compartment in the fridge (bonus!), Hot water on demand
Negatives: Kitchen pots and pans need replacing; Cobwebs everywhere; Too many incense decanters (very strong odor); All kitchen surfaces and cabinet fronts were greasy and grimy; All towels need replacing (very old and ugly); Bathtub was dirty and grimy; The cushions on the two settees in the lounge tended to slide off; The blankets thrown over the settees were unsightly; The TV kept losing signal we thought due to weather, but it turns out the cable wasn't secure to the wall and we didn't figure this out until the last night (very annoying); The lounge was very uncomfortable, basically. In general, the whole place needs a DEEP cleaning and the settees need replacing. For the money we paid it was not good value compared to the three previous cottages we stayed during this year's visit. Thank you.
