I want to state at the beginning that the front desk staff was very accommodating and quick to respond to concerns and requests. Though the hotel wasn't awful, it certainly wasn't what I expected. I booked the hotel through hotels.com based on the average rating of 8.0 from 885 reviews and it's pricing to downtown. After entering our room, I discovered a 7.2 rating (1300+ reviews) on another site-- closer to being accurate, in my opinion. In my mind, a rating of 8 means a hotel is above average with only minor issues to address, but I would say this hotel is just ok. After looking at our first room, I requested to move to another floor. The hall smelled strongly of smoke (presumably not tobacco) and some of the caulk in the bathroom looked dirty or stained and had gaps. The second room was better, though both rooms felt a bit dark and dingy. The tub was missing a stopper, making it unusable for a...bath. The surrounding neighborhood was a bit sketchy, and a significant portion of the clientele missed the memo that being loud in the halls late at night and early in the morning is not conducive to restful sleep for those hoping to find it. Thankfully, the bed was comfortable and did not contribute to lost sleep.
