Flights To Bruges
Bruges is Brussels' photogenic fairytale; its historic center, a piece of history frozen in time. Sometimes called the "Venice of the North," this cosmopolitan city is characterized by its classic canals—a fantastic sight under evening floodlights. Flights to Bruges allow passengers to witness this intricate maze from above, making the flight itself a worthy tourist attraction. Flights and connections to nearby Ostend-Bruges International Airport (OST) are limited since the airport largely deals with private and freight transportation. As such, many tourists choose to book Bruges flights via the Brussels Airport (BRU).
Transportation from OST/BRU
Bruges hotels make an excellent home base to explore the city, and some offer shuttles to and from the airport. If you fly into OST, it's possible to drive to the city center in less than 40 minutes, and public transportation can get you there in an hour. It's just as simple to get to Bruges from the Brussels Airport, since there are buses and trains that go directly to Bruges from BRU. The bus can actually be picked up at Charleroi Airport, another airport adjacent to BRU that mainly houses low-cost airlines. Buses leave every half hour and go straight to Bruges. The train ride from BRU takes about an hour and a half, but on the average weekday, there are over 50 trains headed from BRU to Bruges between 4:40 a.m. and midnight, meaning you won't have to wait long at all. To catch the train, just head to the basement level below the terminal. Taxis are always an option, but they can be very costly, especially if you're flying into BRU instead of OST.
Immerse Yourself in Historic Bruges
A UNESCO World Heritage Center and all the fascinating and timeless treasures that come along with it await in charming Bruges. Despite its bourgeois reputation, airfare to Bruges doesn't have to be expensive. If you want to save your money to spend at the city's famous chocolate shops, search Travelocity for vacation packages in Bruges and save up to $537 when you book a hotel and flight at the same time.
