Joie De Vivre

Joie de Vivre (or "Joy of Living") is a French phrase often used in English to express a cheerful enjoyment of life; an exultation of spirit. That's the way we feel about the Lookout at Lake Chelan and about our home.

Joie de Vivre, completed in 2016, is a spacious three story, 3,095 sq. a . home with four bedrooms and four full baths with two lakeside decks and patio.

The inverted floor plan has the master and living room/dining/kitchen on the second floor to enjoy the expansive views while cooking, watching TV, or just relaxing by the gas fireplace. There are several stately poplar trees that filter the view during the summer months, none the less, I think you will all agree that the views are still incredible, and it is relaxing on a breezy day to watch the trees sway in unison with the wind.

The dining room table has seating for 10 with six chairs and a full-length bench. The table and bench were custom made in Portland and use repurposed wood that came from the Oregon State Hospital in Salem (think where they filmed "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest"). There are four bar chairs along the island bar to provide additional seating.

While keeping the idea of the guests' comfort and enjoyment in mind, we also made changes to the first floor eliminating one of the bedrooms and creating a larger media room. This area has electronics (65" HDTV, X-Box One, and DVD library), an 8 ft. slate pool table, an assortment of games and puzzles, and two sets of sliding doors leading out to a lovely patio and a small courtyard with expansive lake views. The first floor also has a bunk room for the kids that sleep five.

Wonderful spot!

Excellent, however the TV was a disappointment. No instructions on how to access net flix, or other entertainment channels. If net flix was not available to us, then that is a disappointment. Kitchen cooking equipment, great. Cut those damn trees down, what a terrible waste.

Great place for a family vacation

The house was great for the entire family. Plenty of space and very well appointed and stocked. The neighborhood has many activities and The Lookout property managers have everything running very smoothly. We really enjoyed everything.

The property and neighborhood was very clean and just a short walk away from the lake. The house had all the utensils, pots, pans, etc. for cooking. We would recommend and stay here again!

Great house!

This is a great home! We were a group of 8 adults and the house was perfect for us. Four bedrooms and each has its own bathroom. The common areas are spacious and very comfortable to hang out in. The kitchen had everything we needed and the view is very pretty. Two things to note: 1. We had a pet with us and even though we stated that when we made the reservation through vrbo, the pet fee was not included. We had to pay for that directly through their property management. It would have been nice to have that included in the total price of vrbo. 2. We felt the cleaning fee was a bit steep considering that we had to do a bunch of pre-cleaning before vacating the home. Overall a great stay and we would definitely consider it for our next vacation!

Joie de Vivre does not disappoint!

This house is a convenient location both for the surrounding area and within The Lookout community. This home is close to one of the community pools and the access road to the basketball/ pickleball court and the beach. A small park area is being developed across the street from the house which will be nice when completed. The homeowners were thoughtful in the way the house is put together. There are many seating options both indoors and out. The kitchen has plenty of dishes and cookware to use, including large bowls for mixing or serving a large salad. Each bathroom is stocked with plenty of towels; a few beach towels are also available. The view up lake is nice, especially from the third floor deck. This rental is a great place for families and groups of friends. It is not a good choice for anyone with serious physical limitations due to the number of stairs between each floor. We would rent this house again!

Spacious and great location

Pros: Joie de Vivre is a great house to share with multiple families. Large bedrooms each with their own bathrooms and plenty of outdoor space made this house feel very spacious. Location within the Lookout is good with easy access to the upper pool and the shuttles to take you down to the lake. Cons: need more dishwasher & laundry pods (they only provided 3 of each in a house with 9 people for 6 days). Need to supply more paper towels and cleaning supplies in general. The drain in the upstairs bathroom was clogged and the slider on the shower door in the master bedroom was broken. Also, the auto lock on the front door was not functioning properly. We had to pull the door tightly toward us to get it to lock.

Great location - walking distance to Vin de Luc, and a short drive to downtown!

We stayed during Winterfest, and loved the spaciousness of this house for 8 people. Also, the hot tub and S'mores station were right across the street! :) We will keep this house in mind for future trips!
