Very nice weekend stay, but ease up on the check-in policy will ya? We were exhausted from driving and just wanted to relax. We excitedly pulled into HIE at 3:15pm, only to be told they have a strict 4pm check-in, no exceptions. (The woman was not exactly rude, but as close as one could get.) I asked what they do if someone just pulled in off the road needing a room and she said they would wait until 4pm as well. I was in so much pain I was almost in tears. We have to go back to the Sylva area two more times in the next few months and whether or not we stay here again will 100% depend on what time we get into town now. I know this seems a strange hill to die on, but my husband and I both have either knee or back issues and honestly, I need to be able to get out of the car to lie down for about 30 minutes before my back stops aching and I'm able to walk without assistance. (Almost forgot breakfast both mornings was really great!)
