Had a weekend stay at Stone Cottage which was a very clean, warm and well appointed place.
Had a weekend stay at Stone Cottage which was a very clean, warm and well appointed place. We were out all day Saturday visiting the surrounding area which was a fairly sunny day and on our return to the cottage found it very warm due to the sun coming through the large patio doors. In hindsight we should have closed the curtains that day. This cottage is ideal for two and we had a lovely time. If ever we find ourselves wanting to visit the area again we would definitely book Stone Cottage for our stay.
The property was spotlessly clean and we loved the decor - especially the colour scheme and the wooden duck! The outside space was perfect to sit in with wine and, in our case, a jigsaw.
The Annex to Stone Cottage was compact but warm and cosy.
The Annex to Stone Cottage was compact but warm and cosy. The outlook to the rear was across fields and v pleasant. The road outside at the front was quite busy and the property is in the town not as countryfied' as the pictures on website suggest. A good base for exploring the East of the Peak District. Clean and quite well equipped. A few oven proof dishes for those who want to self cater would be useful.
The Annex of Stone Cottage is cosy and compact. Modern and very well equipped, it has just about anything you could need for your stay - although I would have liked a long handled broom! On entering we were hit by a wall of heat which soon disappeared once we opened the patio doors and bedroom window (and this was with no heating switched on!) The accommodation was clean and well prepared with complimentary coffee pods, tea bags, a packet of biscuits, a pint of milk and some Coke Zero. We only cooked one meal while we were there and everything we needed was in the cupboards and for washing up after too. Our only slight criticism was that we were too hot at night - maybe a thinner quilt in the summer months (although I suppose September is officially autumn!) with a blanket available as an extra layer if needed. The accommodation is quiet and comfortable with gorgeous views across the well kept and tidy garden, with sheep in the far field. A perfect place to unwind and relax - definitely recommended.
