Villa Miralaghi: Huge Park, Private Heated Pool, Billiard, Lake, Playground,

My clients who spend long periods of uninterrupted holidays in this house always appear happy in the photos they send to their friends, to invite them to spend time with them in Miralaghi - a bit like the garden gnome freed from Audrey's in the fabulous world of Amelie -. The only thing that is not seen in the photos is the air that blows freely and keeps the air cool in summer and dry in winter.
Our house comfortably accommodates 6 + 2 people in three bedrooms and the billiard room with two single sofa beds, with 3 modern bathrooms with tub and shower.
There is a WI-FI super fast connection..
It is also ideal for a large family or two families traveling together.
The property, a gentle hill, 500 meters above the sea level, covered with Mediterranean and continental vegetation, centuries-old olive trees and green meadows; the house, among the trees, is a lookout on the sky-line of Città della Pieve, while with a short and pleasant walk to the top of the property you will see unique and unforgettable views. that stand out in a 360 ° horizon, with visibility extended to over 80 km over 4 regions of Italy: Umbria, Lazio, Tuscany and Marche and, just to name a few: from Città della Pieve to the Sibillini, from Lake Trasimeno to Assisi and Monte Terminillo, passing through Cortona, Chiusi and its lake, from Monte Cetona to Montepulciano, Castiglione del Lago and much more.
9 square kilometers of nature, the gentle wind that refreshes and cleans the air in a safe region. ..

Miralaghi extends between Umbria and Tuscany, and not far from Lazio either, in an ideal location for many trips, right in central Italy, just 15 km from the A1 motorway, at an altitude ranging from 450 to 650 meters on the level. of sea, with an enviable climate, both in winter and in summer.
Born as a hunting lodge, in 310 hectares of wonderful nature, among woods, olive trees, lakes, and breathtaking views, the house is an ideal place for lovers of relaxation and nature as well as for visiting the surroundings.
From the private covered parking (there is a socket for the electric car, an area for washing machine - dryer and wood for the fireplace) you can access the entrance; on the right a short corridor leads to the fully equipped kitchen with 4 induction burners, oven, a huge fridge with a very large freezer, microwave, dishwasher, American and Italian coffee machine, fireplace, table and chairs for breakfast;
The entrance leads to the living room with a table for 8-9 people, a living area with 3 large sofas and a huge fireplace with internal benches in the traditional Umbrian way. TV-SAT, mini HI-FI, Yamaha electric piano.
To the right of the living room there are two double bedrooms with en suite bathrooms overlooking the garden; to the left of the dining room, the billiard room with two beds that share the bathroom with shower with the last double or twin bedroom overlooking the hill.
The dining table overlooks the covered veranda, overlooking the surrounding hills among the trees. The veranda, with outdoor dining area, Barbecue and sitting area, is accessed from the living room. From the veranda you can access the garden and the private heated swimming pool. There are 1 hammock, 9 sun loungers, two lounge chairs and tea tables.
Next to the house there is a tea table with chairs, two swings, the ping pong table and the foosball table.
The garden gets sun early to late evening with areas shaded by trees.
At night, don't miss the spectacular view of the star-filled dark sky.
Inside the home, there are all the comforts: heating, movable mosquito nets on the windows, WI-FI, TV sat, mini stereo, a wide selection of books, chess, games, brochures, my personal suggestions, DVD, CD, clean linen every week etc.

If you feel like it, you have many leisure activities to do in the Miralaghi park; but please, at the begin, don't forget the map ;-)

TREKKING: enjoy Miralaghi with its wonderful excursions on foot with your dog in contact with unspoiled nature and dense with woods rich in fauna; inside there is a marked path for mountain bikes that crosses breathtaking landscapes along our 20 km of internal paths and 38 km around us.

FISH: fishing in our fishing pond (No-kill fish); there are perch, pike, carp, but eels and crayfish have also been caught.

PICNIC: Have a forest picnic by the romantic lake.

FITNESS: like Rambo, take the life trail in the woods (17 stops, 11 equipments) or just walk along it.

BIRD WATCHING: get on the two birdwatchers.

PLAYGROUND: let your kids go to the playground. equipped with a playhouse for children, two swings, slide, pendulum, goose on the spring for the little ones.
play table tennis, football, table tennis, table football, billiards or Frisbee together.

Tired? For a healthy RELAX: swim in the heated pool, play boules, take a bath in the heated Jacuzzi whirlpool, read a book in solitude. Or relax in the sun, play chess under the oak tree, admire the wonderful sunset and the endless view around you, eat out and try the local gastronomic specialties, without forgetting to use our excellent olive oil.

NATURE: there are still many species of wild animals, which I try to protect in every way: foxes, roe deer, hedgehogs, porcupines, wild boars, hares and squirrels, fire flies in June and July. A couple of hawk often circle above us. A family of barn owls is often seen at night. Robin, jay, hoopoe, green-peak are regular visitors. Pheasants are often released here.

At the beginning of spring there are violets (in Italy we make a delicious blue candy with violets), many wild flowers during spring, sunflowers in summer; In September, carpets of cyclamen meet in the forest. From the end of September until the beginning of November you can find many species of mushrooms - the books that explain them are at home - If you like a different experience come on the last weekend of October, when we start harvesting olives.

VISITS: At 3 Km, Paciano a fabulous small medieval fortified village, From Paciano at 4 Km, Panicale a wonderful Renaissance village, Chiusi the ancient Etruscan capital of King Porsenna with the Etruscan tombs to visit and the underground city, Montepulciano where it is located the most beautiful winery in the world, Cortona (under the Tuscan sun) the one I like best with a wonderful museum with the oldest lamp in the world (4th century BC), Castiglione del Lago on Lake Trasimeno with the fortress made by Federico II to reach, through the town walls, his nice weekly market ..., the Maggiore island in the lake to reach by ferry from where you can admire the sunset over the lake. Sarteano where a new Etruscan-Roman tomb was recently discovered, Cetona with its prehistoric caves, San Casciano or Bagni San Filippo where you can go for a hot bath during the winter .... Perugia with the splendid and unknown Rocca Paolina.

There is still a lot to see: in Arezzo there is a beautiful antiquity market on the first Sunday of each month, Siena of course, Assisi the town of San Francesco with the two churches one on top of the other; Gubbio.

And if you stay for more than a week, don't miss the Marmore Falls, the highest waterfalls in Europe and the Frasassi caves, the most beautiful caves I've been to in my entire life.

If you want to go by train or car, from Chiusi, you can travel comfortably to both Rome and Florence in about an hour and a half.

Friends' Trip to the Italian Countryside
Our group of five women thoroughly enjoyed our two-week stay at Miralaghi. We were in the main house (old hunting lodge) with 4-bedrooms, 3 baths, huge living space, kitchen, carport, and private pool. Miralaghi is a unique property, located between Paciano and Moiano, high up on a hillside. It is very peaceful, quiet and provides lovely hiking trails on the huge, 750 acre property. It's a perfect retreat at the end of a day of visiting nearby hill towns. Our host, Mausi, was a delight and so helpful in making our daily plans for activities. Her responsiveness to our needs was immediate. When we asked for a "baking pan" (apparently not a term used much in Italian), we were greeted by an assortment of new dishes the very next day. Same thing when it came to glasses, a coffee maker, etc. We only had to ask once, and anything we needed quickly appeared. If you are looking for a beautiful location, in a quiet and peaceful surrounding in the countryside, you will not be disappointed by this property.

Beautiful, quiet and remote setting
It was a great stay - the house was older but clean. The road to get to the house is about a 3km dirt road that takes some time getting up and down; bring an SUV. The host and surrounding towns were wonderful. It's a bit of a drive to the larger towns like Montepulciano, Piensa, Orvieto, etc... but there are some very nice smaller towns a 15-20 min drive away (Paciano, Chiusi, Moiano). Overall it was a bit remote for us and a little older than we expected, but the views are beautiful and the host fantastic and helpful.

Relaxing countryside villa
Miralaghi was the highlight of our trip! After separately traveling throughout other parts of Italy, the villa was the perfect size for us to meet up with another small family, even with two small babies. The villa had everything, including several amenities that I have never seen in other Italian rentals (a washer AND a dryer! a dishwasher!) that helped make our visit so relaxing. There are several local restaurants and towns nearby that were a joy to visit, including La Loggetta, where I had one of the best meals of my entire trip ... and enjoyed a panoramic view of the Tuscan countryside while we were at it. The wine towns are easily accessible, and we were able to visit Montepulchiano and Montechello in the same day. More importantly, we were very interested in participating in a truffle hunt in the region, but the only ones we could find were hours away and very expensive. After asking Maria (who goes by Mausi) if she had any suggestions on a tour for us, she promptly informed us that her very own property sports a plethora of truffles and that she would organize a hunt for us! We met Stefano, her hunting guard, and Pigna - an adorable wire-haired terrier named after the Tuscan pine cone, and had a very successful hunt, filled with information about the property, truffles, Italy in general, you name it. Afterward, Mausi arranged for one of her long-time friends to cook a traditional Tuscan meal with us using all the truffles we had found ... featuring wild boar that was hunted from nearby (talk about locally sourced!), in addition to pasta, bruschetta, dessert, wine, prosciutto, and more. The meal was so delicious, and we learned so much about traditional Tuscan cuisine in the process. If you have a desire for your trip, all you have to do is ask ... Mausi will make it happen herself, or she will find someone who can. She helped make our stay everything we could have imagined. Thank you Mausi, and thanks to Stefano, Agnese and Pigna!! We wish we could have stayed twice as long!

Rustic mountaintop
Miralaghi is a rustic setting in a spacious home with 3 bedrooms and 3 full bathrooms. The pool was warm and welcoming after our journey from Camogli. Our hostess, Mausi, was ever so attentive and quick to respond to any need or question. If you want a view from the top, this is your place.

Peace, fun and tranquility in Umbria!
Our (grown-up) family was hugely looking forward to our week in Villa Miralaghi. We were not disappointed! The family voted the pool the best we have ever had and we played endless games of (sort-of) water polo! The villa was quirky, a former hunting lodge, and was spacious. We all felt we could get our own space if we wanted it, with the communal areas plenty big enough for us all to be comfortable. Plenty of outside tables and chairs and sunbeds for all, surrounded by lovely flowers and trees. Oh, and not to forget the hammock! The jacuzzi was brilliant and much used as the light went each evening, except for the moon, of course! There were so many dishes and plates and cups and mugs - brilliant. Mausi welcomed us and gave us a tour. She was contactable throughout our stay if we had needed anything and was always making suggestions and giving tips and ideas. The Villa is well placed for visits to many places. We visited Montepulciano and Assisi in p[articular. We had a great time! Thank you, Mausi. Thank you, Villa Miralaghi. :)

A lovely property in Umbrian countryside- just as described!
It is vital to read and follow Maria’s instruction for getting to the Villa- the google route takes one through a rather hair-raising journey as we discovered. The pool seem to be heated the first day but not the rest of the trip- although it did not deter the children from going swimming! We also enjoyed Maria’s recommendations for dining out! The surrounding cities are a delight to visit! We ate far too much during our stay. Maria is an amazing host- she really did make us feel welcome! Thanks for the lovely holiday- it was especially special for my mum given it was her birthday during the trip!

Beautiful secluded villa on top of a mountain top overlooking beautiful Umbria
Our party of 6 enjoyed 11 days in this charming villa. It had many amenities to suit everyone of all ages. These included a swimming pool, hot tub, pool table, ping pong, as well as many other sports and hiking trails to vistas overlooking the Umbria countryside. Maria Luisa is a fabulous hostess, anxious to provide for her guest each and every need. She is very knowledgeable about the area and had wonderful recommendations for places to see, to dine, and buy wine etc. It’s a bit hard to find the villa the first time unplug the GPS follow closely Maria Luisa’s directions which will get you there without hassle. Definitely recommend Villa Miralaghi.

A lovely villa with extensive facilities, set in a rural and isolated mountain area.
Miralaghi is set near the top of a mountain in a secluded peaceful nature area, with views of the surrounding Umbrian countryside. It is a spacious property with good sized bedrooms and bathrooms (although these could be improved) and a functional kitchen with good range of equipment, dishwasher, china, cutlery and utensils. The open fire and logs were well used due to some cold and wet weather. We made use of the heated private pool a few times (when it was sunny), and made use of the hot tub and boules pitch. The kids loved completing the exercise trail which provided some more wonderful views of the area and the bird hive tower was fun. Maria Luisa is a lovely, friendly and a very knowledgeable host. She provided information to help get us out and explore the local area (by car which is essential) and Paciano and Panicale were our first places to visit. Maria popped by occasionally to check if things were ok and provided advice on where to go in Rome and Florence (Firenze) which, while wet was, still pretty. The road up to the villa from the directions provided is a track, not tarmac, but the VW Passat managed it in the dry and wet with no problem. From the Villa it is possible to drive up to the top and down the other side towards Paciano, however this is not the faint hearted as the road surface is a little worse and is much steeper and bendy, with no crash barriers and only a couple of passing points for any traffic coming the opposite way. However, the view down towards Lake Trasimeno is spectacular and worth the effort! It is also the quickest route to the Lake, Panicale, Paciano and countryside. Recommend Lillo Tatini in Panicale see TripAdvisor. We'd recommend a trip to Cortona, north of the Lake (about 45 min drive) as it is another amazing hilltop town. Just north of Cortona (from the main road) is a top class restaurant; IL Falconiere. We had a truly amazing food experience with service during torrential rain and thunderstorm. Unfortunately we didn't have time to use the Spa (maybe next time!). Orvieto (about 1 hour south) is a good day out for the family where there is lots to see including an incredible Duomo and the ancient Well is something else.

Ideal retreat
The property is certainly big enough but could do with some TLC in places, this does not affect your stay. The pool is lovely and well maintained it is very easy to sit and relax there all day. There is a lovely trail or two around the grounds with splendid views. Maria is very knowledgeable on the area and will give you any advice if you wish to explore.
