What an amazing place to stay!!! The staff were so welcoming and friendly, the food was delicious and the service was excellent and very reasonable prices too. We loved the room which was very clean and comfortable and had a great view over the fields.
We will definitely revisit in the future.
The owners are wonderful folk. Clean, convenient, updated yet historic... the Aggie us everything you could wish for and more. Great pub! Right across the road from Penrith Castle ruins and next door to.a grocery
Very nice place with a good atmosphere and great food. Welcoming, friendly and accommodating staff.
Rooms tidy and clean.
I will continue to make this hotel a frequent stay for myself when in Durham. Colin
Lovely queen bed, clean, hot powerful shower, large room with tv, fabulous cooked breakfast included in very reasonable room price. Excellent food menu and large portions at fair prices. We will stay again when visiting Durham. We tried to go back for sunday lunch after our checkout but the car park was completely full reflecting how popular the three horseshoes is. A very enjoyable 2 night stay and there was a lot more on the menu we would have liked to have tried. Next time!
I use The Three Horseshoes ever time I am in the North East on business. Very friendly staff, clean and comfortable rooms and lovely food. The restaurant can get busy which is testament to the quality of the food and beer.
Stayed 1 night and ate evening meal here.
Postive points: -
- Helpful and friendly staff
- Good shower
- Bed on the firm side but not uncomfortable
- Evening meal was very good; we ate beef and ale pie (homemade and tasty) and seafood linguine (tasty with good quantity of shellfish). Both dishes were a good size.
- Breakfast: cooked fresh, good sausage. Cereals available.
Less positive points (but not 'bad'): -
- the room radiator was not working correctly but the manager quickly sorted it out
- breakfast range of youghurts and fresher options was quite limited; coffee was from a machine and a bit of the weak side.
There is not much around the property specifically but it is ideal for access to Durham and a cosy alternative to central chain hotels. Great, home cooked food and friendly staff at good value. Good sized room with great shower. Free parking a bonus. Bar gets quiet early though!!
Good location near A1. Pub was nice but no decent selection of bitter/ales. Food was good. Staff very friendly. Room was ok had the squeakiness floors and a very pungent clean bathroom smell.
Absolutely gorgeous place to stay on the outskirts of Durham. Only a 10 mins drive into the center! The parking is so easy & accessible, great dining options and the staff were SO lovely! The rooms are modern & clean, will definitely be coming here again as it's a great value for money and I absolutely loved staying here!
