Private retreat with ocean-view deck and only two easy blocks to beach access. The retreat is private, designated portion of a home with its own exclusive entrances. The rest of the home is occupied by the host couple who have no pets. There is one space on the driveway for parking and an extra space on the driveway if needed.

Located in charming Leucadia (a section of Encinitas, California), this very private vacation rental consists of a living room with comfortable queen-sized sofa sleeper and a closet, a nicely appointed bedroom and a beautiful bathroom, plus outdoor living areas and an OUTDOOR kitchen that have features our guests love.

From the living room, there are French doors that open to the only kitchen, which is OUTDOORS. There is also a door to a hallway that separates the living room, the bedroom and the bathroom, so both areas have complete privacy. The bedroom has French doors that open to the outdoor kitchen, too, so both the kitchen and living room with sofa bed can be separately accessed to and from the outdoor living and kitchen areas.

The outdoor kitchen is mostly "covered." This kitchen is well-equipped for almost any kind of cooking method: frying, baking, broiling, grilling, microwaving, crock-potting or doing things stovetop.

The outdoor, flagstone living area is bordered by flowers and artificial grass, frequented by hummingbirds and has an outdoor fireplace with hearth.

Your spaces are part of a residence and have a separate entrance. There are no stairs, except for the ones to your ocean-view deck. It is private and apart from the owners' quarters.

Enjoy warming around, lounging and dining by the fireplace with a outdoor wicker sectional and cushions. Or go up to your ocean-view deck and enjoy the sunset, work at the table or read a book. The kitchen counter area is all under cover, as is the granite breakfast bar that runs parallel to it. Dice at the counter, pour something from the refrigerator, scoop something from the freezer and serve at the bar. (Also next to the kitchen, there is a warm water rinse-off shower for after the beach!)

PETS ARE ALLOWED BUT MUST BE WELL-BEHAVED. If they have separation anxiety which results in howling, barking, chewing, wetting, etc., they cannot be left alone for more than one half hour. Thank you!

This quiet street has easy freeway access, walking distance to a grocery store, restaurants and shops. Several beach outlets available and within walking distance. This is a perfect place to begin and end a day if you venture out to do and see all that the San Diego area has to offer. There is Coaster train access to Solana Beach, Old Town and downtown San Diego is only 2 miles away in downtown Old Encinitas.

Bedding is included. The living room also includes an easy chair and ottomans along with one other upholstered chair PLUS a dining table for four people. There is lots of storage space beneath the television cabinet and a closet.

Listing accurately describes the property. The backyard is beautiful. Having private access to an upper deck was a plus (partial view of the Pacific). We enjoyed the backyard fireplace mornings and evenings. I was a bit anxious at the thought of an outdoor kitchen but it worked for us. Only a short walk on Neptune Avenue to two beach accesses (Beacon & Grandview). Off-street parking was a must for us. Peachy's Market (fresh produce), which we visited on a regular basis, was right down the street. Restaurants & coffee shops were within walking distance. Communication with Sheryl and Bob was easy. This was our first stay but we hope to be back again.

Wonderful property & hosts

My husband and I rented the apartment for the month of June, and couldn’t be happier with our choice! Sheryl and Bob are warm and welcoming, and have created an oasis for their renters. The apartment is on the small side, but perfectly functional and accurately represented in the listing. The real selling point though is the large, fenced yard that you have entirely to yourself. The yard is bigger than the apartment, and includes an outdoor kitchen, sectional sofa surrounding a massive gas fireplace, fake grass area, and lots of gorgeous roses, hydrangeas and irises. Not to mention a rooftop balcony with ocean view! We spent so much time outside every day
 morning coffee in front of the fireplace, meals al fresco, open air yoga, etc. etc. etc. Beach access is 0.4 miles in one direction or 0.5 in the other, making a great 2-mile loop walk. The neighborhood is super walkable with lots of great restaurants and shops nearby. The only (small) down side is that the houses in this area are close together, so there can be noise from neighbors
 but you’re unlikely to escape that anywhere in Encinitas. Highly recommended!

The place was great and quiet. Perfect for traveling with our 2 dogs. The host, Sheryl, was very communicative and helpful. Wish it was walking distance to the dog beach but Del Mar wasn’t a far drive.

We were very impressed with this lovely property! Close proximity to the beach and to downtown Leucadia. Many shops, delicious restaurants, coffee shops, and breweries. Bob and Sheryl are fabulous hosts! Beautiful outdoor space. Everything on the inside was comfortable, clean and cozy. We were worried about the outdoor kitchen space, however it was just fine. Well stocked and fun. Added a bit of adventure to the trip. We had our grandkids visit over the visit and having the outdoor space was very welcome. Location is perfect. We love walking on Neptune, quick walk to Peachy’s and Leucadia donuts! Of course also easy walk to all the 101 restaurants. We will be back!

Our stay was such a relaxing and enjoyable experience. Sheryl and Bob have created an extremely welcoming space with a secluded patio surrounded by all types of florals and in walking distance to the ocean, restaurants, shops, bars, ect. Great Location!

We loved our 5 week stay at this little place perfectly located between Beacons and Grandview beaches. It's a great neighborhood with restaurants, surf shops, a USPS post office, and small grocery market all within a few blocks. Walking our dogs to Beacons to watch the sunset became one of our favorite evening activities. Bob and Sheryl are great. Sheryl greeted us upon arrival and gave us a quick tour. They are both very conscientious about giving their guests privacy. We hardly saw them unless we needed something and then they were immediately available. The apartment is small but the space is efficient. There was plenty of storage space for our things (2 large closets and lots of empty drawers). I appreciated that the bathroom was roomy with a nice shower/tub combo and lots of counter space. The outdoor space is big enough to have friends over and was our favorite place to hang out with our pets. The outdoor kitchen had everything we needed to make our meals. It was a treat to have access to the extra upstairs balcony with a dining table for 4 and a fantastic view of the sunsets. A friend came to stay with us for a weekend and said that the pull out sofa was very comfortable. If you are looking for a comfortable place to stay with great access to two surf beaches we highly recommend Bob and Sheryl's place.

Great location and wonderful hosts!

Sheryl and Bob were wonderful hosts. They are warm, kind and super helpful while being extremely respectful of our privacy. The unit is in an amazing location - walking distance to Beacon's and Grandview beaches which are great surfing spots. It's also biking distance to Moonlight and Ponto Beaches which are a bit more roomy for family fun in the sand. There are tons of great cafes and restaurants within walking distance and a small super market that's practically next door, selling local produce and essentials. The place has a nice and quiet bedroom; living room with a comfy pull out couch. There's an outdoor kitchen with access to an ocean view deck. It's a great a great place to socialize while preparing meals outside in perfect summer weather, with a myriad humming birds and butterflies visiting the garden. The kitchen's well stocked w/ everything you could need on vacation. We stayed for 6 weeks w/ 2 elementary school age kids. It is a bit small, but manageable, for such an extended stay w/ a family (our kids definitely started missing their room and yard towards the end). However, I would highly recommend it for a shorter family stay or a stay of any length for a couple or a single person.

Backyard Oasis

We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Leucadia. The location is perfect. A short walk to Just Peachy, our favorite produce market, short walk to the ocean, restaurants and shops. The patio had everything you needed to enjoy the sun during the day and a gas fireplace to warm you up in the evening. My husband and I love being outside so having an outdoor kitchen was right up our alley. The hosts are warm and welcoming. They were very accommodating when our dates changed and made it work for us. I would give them a 5+ rating if I could.

Just as described!

Sheryl and Bob were incredible hosts. We stayed at their beach house with our two young children and our dog for more than a month while we waited to move in to our new home. The location can't be beat as it's just blocks away from two beach accesses. We will miss our evening hang-outs on the patio and sunset strolls to the beach. Thank you Sheryl and Bob!

Our February Stay

It was a bit chilly in the morning , and we did not use the outdoor kitchen very much , but owners were very responsive and did emery thing they could to make our stay pleasant .

Great host, space and location.

We used this property to work, visit relatives, and enjoy nice ocean view walks. Sheryl is very communicative and responsive. Restaurants and groceries are walkable too. We will consider this location for future visits.

The inside was super cozy and quiet really liked it, the bed in the living is being upgraded which will make it that much better. The outdoor kitchen we liked but it was a little chilly for that time of year. A light around the grill would be nice for cooking in the dark. The hosts were great very friendly

Quaint and Quirky (in a good way)

This unit is clean and very well equipped. Four of us (plus a puppy) we’re very comfortable. Even in a rare San Diego rain event the outdoor kitchen met all our needs. The deck at the top of the stairs provides a nice ocean view and the on-premise landlords were pleasant and accommodating. We recommend highly!
