I didnât have unreasonable expectations, but was quite disappointed upon arrival. One major issue is that the property description fails to mention the many steep stairs within the unit. While you might guess from photos that there are stairs to the top-floor bedroom, there was no clear warning about climbing two full flights from the flat entrance to the main living and bedroom area. The lift to Level 2 works, but doesnât help with the internal stairsâdifficult for elderly, injured, or young children.
Second issue: cleanliness. There were bread crumbs on the table and floor, as if it hadnât been cleaned after the last guestsâeven the check-in staff looked embarrassed and started cleaning. The entry smelled strongly of mold, and it was obvious the floors hadnât been vacuumed or mopped in weeks. The couch was stained, the bathroom and bedrooms needed a deep clean, and the entire place felt dusty, dated, and neglected.
Expedia and the check-in staff did their best to assist, but the management company/customer service- MMEGA, was dismissive and refused to acknowledge the poor condition or misleading info.
Lastly, the air conditioning unit is very old and extremely loudâmaking it hard to sleep due to the constant noise.
I understand high tourist traffic can impact upkeep, but cleanliness, comfort, and accurate descriptions are basic expectations. Unfortunately, this stay failed on all three.
The absolute worst experience weâve ever had traveling. The home was disgusting! It hadnât been cleaned in a very long time. The bathroom had hair all over the walls, garbage and toilet paper on the floors, the walls were full of smashed dead bugs & there was clearly a sewage backup in - the home smelled of sewage and filth. We tried reaching out to the management company for days - still havenât heard back! Save yourself the trouble & book ANYWHERE ELSE!
Pros - Great location to train station, grocery stores, restaurants, main sites. It was nice to have a kitchen and laundry. The apartment had good character. Cons - for a costly cleaning fee, it could have been a little cleaner. It wasnât dirty but I could tell the floors hadnât been cleaned and the kitchen could have been cleaner. We had all of the windows closed but there were still a ton of mosquitoes getting in. It was an obvious problem because there were random smashed mosquitoes on the walls. Bed wasnât too comfortable but it was clean. Bathroom was so tiny and there was something leaking from underneath the bathroom sink onto the floor. We are world travelerâs and realize not all bathrooms are as big as American bathrooms and that is fine. This was the tiniest shower Iâve ever had in my travels so if youâre a curvier person, this may not be the shower for you. We made it work and it was nothing too serious. Overall it was a good little place to stay.
It is very convenient to go every place, and the area is safe and great! Only one thing that is hard to tolerate is the mosquito bites. It would be better to apply some settings to prevent the mosquitoes.
We were excited about the location and amenities advertised for our Florence getaway, so it was a disappointment to check in and discover a musty smell, and mold growing all along the ceiling of the main bedroom wall, as well as in the bathroom. Additionally, the shower wouldn't drain until we cleaned a huge plug of hair out of it. Communication with the management was an absolute nightmare -- first they promised to send a cleaner to remove the mold, then said their cleaner (who never came) was unable to remove the mold with regular household cleaners and that they would have to send someone else to use stronger chemicals. When I expressed health concerns and asked questions about the chemicals in question, they said they would no longer be able to send a cleaner and offered us a smaller apartment (in which our son would have to sleep on a sofa) all the way across town. We asked about help with transportation logistics and costs for the move, and they said the most they would do is call us a cab. (Gee, thanks.) We declined the alternative lodging because it just didn't work with our itinerary. Hotels.com apologized and offered a refund, but evidently the management is now dishonestly telling them that we declined cleaning (I have WhatsApp screenshots that prove otherwise), and thus that we are not eligible for a refund. We did appreciate that the a/c worked well, but I recommend staying far away from this health nightmare -- you can do much, much better in Florence.
10 night stay (1 Couple + 2 adult children)
The pros:
* AMAZING location, you're steps away from central market, but still a very quiet unit. Really easy to explore all that Firenze has to offer.
* Main bedroom has a really big closet, upstairs bedroom is a loft style and small, but great for 1 person sleeping.
To be aware of:
* Elevator in building which is great for luggage, but there's still a set of stairs to get up into the apartment living area (and 2nd set for loft).
* Kitchen is really small, while setup well with pots and such for cooking the fridge/freezer is a dorm size.
* Bathroom is a bit tight (between the shower and sink) and shower is very small (30"x30" approx) if you are a bigger traveler (or like to stretch in the shower) you may have issues.
Cons:
*They advertise an espresso machine and confirmed via message in February that it was a pod machine, but when I got there there was only a french press and tiny Moka pot. For most this wouldn't be a big deal, but we're 4 espresso addicted adults and would have brought my machine with me if I'd known.
Great place and would stay again.
