Sercial, also known as Esgana Cão due to its high acidity, is one of the grape varieties used in the production of Madeira wine.
Sercial forms part of a collection of properties known as “The Wine Lodges”, a development situated right in the heart of the city, in a historic building that houses one of the most important Madeira wine cellars, belonging to the iconic Blandy family.
With décor designed with meticulous attention to detail, where elegance blends seamlessly with the building’s rich history, this property offers exceptional comfort and unrivalled touches of luxury.
The flat features spacious rooms, making it perfect for a couple’s holiday or for small families.
Situated on the third floor of the building, the apartment comprises a master bedroom with a double bed. The spacious living room features a sofa bed that sleeps two people.
This property accommodates a maximum of four people.
Wi-Fi is available throughout the property.
There is no lift or private parking.

AREA
The property is located in the noble and central area of Funchal. From this property, you will be able to know all the downtown and main points of interest. This flat is situated right next to the famous Municipal Garden of Funchal and very close to the Funchal Marina and the Municipal Theatre.
In the same building of the property you can visit one of the most important Madeira wine lodges Blandy's Wine Lodges is open daily for tastings and guided tours. In these same lodges you may get to know and purchase a wide range of wines, which you may later pick up at the airport after passing through customs. Guests of this property have one free ticket per couple.
Another must is the bar and restaurant "1811 Wine Bar", which is located in the same building. Here, you can enjoy unique delicacies accompanied by excellent wines. Our guests are granted an exclusive discount in this fantastic space.
In the city centre there is plenty of information about all kinds of activities you can do during your holiday: cultural activities, radical activities, activities linked to nature... whatever the purpose of your visit to Madeira Island!

PROPERTY RULES
To ensure a pleasant stay for everyone, we ask that you observe a few simple rules.

• Smoking is not permitted inside the property. A fine of €300 will be charged for non-compliance.
• Parties or events are not permitted.
• Pets are not permitted.
• Please be considerate of your neighbours and keep noise levels down, especially at night.

The property may be equipped with a smart sensor (Minut) that monitors noise, smoke and temperature levels, solely for safety reasons. This system does not record conversations or collect personal data. Should abnormal levels be detected, a member of our team may contact you. You are not permitted to disable, cover or tamper this or any other equipment installed on the property.

In accordance with Portuguese law, all guests must present valid identification for registration purposes.

Municipal tourist tax (when applicable):
€2.00 per person/night for guests aged 13 and above, up to a maximum of 7 nights (€14.00 per person per stay). A payment link will be sent prior to arrival.

Check-in must be scheduled in advance. If it is not arranged at least 48 hours beforehand, check-in will be subject to our team’s availability.

Early check-in and late check-out are subject to availability and an additional charge.

By confirming your reservation, all guests agree to our house rules and accommodation conditions.

OTHER NOTES
All bed linen and towels are provided. We can also provide, free of charge, a baby travel crib, high chair and baby bath upon request before check-in. Requests made less than 48 hours before arrival may be subject to an additional fee. All properties are equipped with a first aid kit, fire extinguishers and a fire blanket.
For stays of 8 nights or more, a mid-stay service is provided, including the replenishment of bed linen, towels and consumables only. This service is not included for shorter stays. Additional cleaning services during your stay are available on request at an extra charge.

Great property, central Funchal and easy to walk everywhere. Situated above Blandy's Wine lodge and next to a park with a cafe, so didn't have to go far for a chill out! Very comfortable and spacious, the only thing to bear in mind is that it is on the 3rd floor and there is no lift.

Excellent accommodation

We came across this listing almost by chance and are very pleased that we did! Brilliant apartment above Blandy's wine lodge, very central to Funchal and we were able to get everywhere we wanted to go on foot. Despite the location it was a very peaceful and quiet apartment with a beautiful park just opposite where you could sit and relax, or get a beer in the cafe there. We would certainly consider staying here again on a return visit to Madeira. The only thing to bear in mind is that the apartment is on the 3rd floor and there is no lift.

Pleasant stay overall

Our stay was pleasant overall, but there are a few areas for improvement. On the positive side, the apartment is spacious, stylishly decorated, and perfectly situated right in the city center, by a beautiful park. We also appreciated the fast Wi-Fi, the well-equipped kitchen, and the thoughtful "welcome" bottle of wine. However, several maintenance issues affected our comfort. While the original wooden floors are visually stunning, they are extremely creaky—to the point where any movement at night can disturb others in the apartment or even the neighbors. We also stayed for a full week but were only provided with one set of towels each, making it impossible to wash them without being left with nothing to use. Additionally, the shower holder was broken, requiring us to hold the head by hand, and the bedroom blinds were also broken, which let in too much morning light. Finally, despite there being a second bed, only one set of linen and one blanket were provided; an extra blanket would have been helpful as it got quite chilly at night. Despite these issues, the location and apartment layout are fantastic, and with these fixes, it would be a perfect stay.

Large apartment

Well situated, large, Fifty stairs to climb to reach the room. Poor lighting on landing makes using keypad difficult. No facilities for leaving luggage. Comfortable rooms. Excellent view of the park. Some facilities are lacking e.g. soap in bathroom, plug in sink. Only one towel provided for each person for a whole week. Bathroom smells of drains. Very creaky floorboards. No Welcome pack until requested.You pay for the size, comfort and location but not quality of facilities. We will revisit Funchal again but unfortunately will not be staying in this apartment.

Great location, but many disappointments

Unfortunately, our experience was not positive. I stayed with my partner during the first week of August. The only truly positive aspect was the central location of the apartment; however, the lack of parking forced us to leave our car about 15 minutes away on foot, in a paid car park (€15 per day). We noticed several issues: a strong sewage smell came from the bathroom every day, the taps had a poor water flow, the toilet brush was stuck in place due to dirt, and there was a large amount of limescale on many surfaces. Despite the apartment being 130 m², the only air conditioning unit was in the bedroom. Overall, the cleanliness was disappointing. It’s also worth mentioning that the apartment is on the third floor with no elevator, which can be inconvenient both when carrying luggage and after walking many kilometres on trekking days. We are from Italy, and it truly saddens us to write this review, because the property seemed promising, but unfortunately, we must confirm some of the negative feedback we had read before our trip.

Très bien situé !

Grand appartement, très bien placé ! Intérieur conforme à l'annonce . Par contre, j'ai eu des soucis pour entrer dans l'appartement plusieurs fois, problème de code, équipe qui vient mais réparation provisoire , alors qu'il fallait mettre une serrure à code neuve (ce qui a été fait quand je suis partie, donc un peu tard pour mon séjour !) J'ai perdu énormément de temps, bloquée à l'extérieur, en attendant plusieurs fois qu'ils arrivent .....(séjour de 5 nuits) Manque de sérieux des techniciens sur place !

A beautiful place

Such a gorgeous, elegant apartment. Location and cleanliness excellent! Lovely bottles of wine, thank you. Air con - fantastic. Nice shower. A few minors: the wooden floor is extremely noisy. Not enough toilet roll for all three of us for 6 days. Lots of termites everywhere. Would have preferred to not have to do the bedding for my little girl myself. Overall, we would come back :) Obrigados!
