We had to wait half hour to be checked in, was hoping to get some food and after waiting so long was then told 15 minutes to order, then it took another 5 minutes to find a pen that worked ! So after finally being checked in , were then told lift out of order, we were three flights up. By time ran bags in and got back down, food had finished. We had a drink , there were tables full of empty plates and glasses , so we cleared out table, went to get a second drink, the bar staff were totally out of focus. They served three sets of people who had come in after us ! I wouldn’t normally go for a refund but I will be taking this further as from start to finish a disappointment . We stayed following night in Ripon for £56 and it knocked spots of The inn.

Lovely hotel in a great position, however it did let itself down badly! The evening food was nice but the service was appalling. The staff didn’t seem to care. Breakfast was a let down, guests were constantly asking for restocks on plates and food. obvious

Our room was spacious and the decor was lovely. There was a significant amount of road noise as the room was on the ground floor and the windows faced a very busy road. My biggest issues were with the staff at the reception. Our room was to include bathrobes and slippers. When I could not locate them, I went back to reception to inquire. I was told in no uncertain terms that these items were no longer available because of theft. I explained that this was listed as part of the upgrade on the website and perhaps that needs updating. The guy rolled his eyes when I asked to speak to the supervisor. They were both aggressive in their manner when I mentioned that I would be submitting a negative comment. Magically some robes were still available in a store room. The employee then dumped them into my arms in the middle of the hotel bar where the reception is located. I was so embarrassed by this. It was terribly unpleasant and I would NEVER stay at this property again.

On arrival, we parked in the car park and I went to check us in, I had booked a twin room only as we had the dog however on arrival I asked if we could change to a double and they said that was fine, on leaving reception I added the dog cost and parking to the room as expected, as i was walking off I was told breakfast was included... We went out for the evening so didn't spend much time in the room, when returning to the room around 11 PM we found that it absolutely stunk of vommit/damp, went straight to reception and they kindly moved us to a different room with what can only be described as a dead body stain on the carpet, it was late so we went to sleep. We attended breakfast, told the attendant our room number, she explained about the buffet and where to sit and we sat and ate breakfast, I then left for work and my fiancee checked out a while later. Upon checkout she was charged £24 for our breakfasts. (I wouldn't have had breakfast if I was not told it was included) The hotel staff then proceded to tell my fiancee she was lying and that all members of staff had told us that breakfast was an extra cost, non of them had mentioned this.
