2 bedroom, 2 baths, steps from the beach, sleeps 8 with inflatable queen mattress.
Clear to ocean view in Melrose with all the amenities of home. Living Room and both bedrooms are ocean side. Cable TV & wireless internet. 4 new HD tv's. New linens, pillows, bedcover and memory foam mattress pads. Both bedrooms have direct access to large, screened porch overlooking the ocean. Fully equipped, open kitchen.

Daufuskie Island is boat accessible only. Take a ferry or one of many private water taxis from Hilton Head, Bluffton or Savannah to get there. Your personal vehicle will be left at the departure location and a golf cart will become your means of transportation while visiting Daufuskie.

Enjoy your morning coffee watching the sunrise over the ocean from the large screen porch with rocking chairs, soft seating and a high-top dining table. Master bedroom has a King bed with a large private bathroom, 2 vanities, walk-in shower, Jacuzzi tub and toilet. 2nd bedroom has 2 Queen beds with large private bath with double vanity, tub/shower, toilet. Both bedrooms have an ocean view and direct access to the screen porch. Also includes Queen size inflatable bed.

You will fall in love with Daufuskie Island on your first visit. It is a vacation like no other. The craziness of traffic, tourist and crowded beaches are not our idea of relaxing. Your Daufuskie Island vacation begins when you leave your vehicle on the mainland and board a ferry or private boat for a fun ride over to the Island where you can often see Dolphins. After a short 30-45 minute ride you are so relaxed and ready to kick back and truly enjoy all the nature, quiet beaches, long walks & golf cart rides.

Feel any stress in your life instantly go away with the soft breeze of the ocean air. Tour the island on your golf cart and enjoy the nature and peacefulness. You may see rare birds, alligators, deer, fox squirrels and more!

At a specific point on Daufuskie Island you can see Hilton Head, Savannah and Tybee Island, but those crowded beaches are in the distance as you enjoy a private beautiful beach. If you want to see more of the local living enjoy a meal at the Daufuskie Crab Company, at the Freeport Marina, D'Fuskie's Store Eatery & Bar, On-Deck Diner, at Daufuskie Island Distillery, Frye's Corner, Driftwood Diner or The Sportsman. Visit The Iron Fish, The Community Farm, The Daufuskie Island Distillery (Daufuskie Rum Company), Daufuskie Blues for indigo dying classes and beautiful merch, Boohags, "a coastal chic bootique", The Light House at Silver Dew Winery.
In addition to our beautiful beaches, the Melrose Pool is open (seasonal).

An amazing villa for a fantastic 3 night get away. A beautifully decorated villa that was spacious and very clean. Communication was easy and prompt. The screened in porch was my favorite spot to enjoy coffee and start the day on island time.

Relaxing family getaway

We had a great stay here (myself, my wife, 12 year old daughter and 10 year old son). This was a great location, and the villa was very nice. It had everything we needed. We enjoyed exploring the island and eating at the various restaurants. The hosts were kind very good at communicating through VRBO. Highly recommend.

We absolutely loved our week at Daufuskie!! The Captain’s Choice was perfect for our family. The moment that you enter through the wonderful porch and see the ocean
”I could stay here forever!” The decor is so beautiful, and the villa is very well equipped..from the kitchen..to the beach chairs and toys!! Everything is extremely clean, with many special touches. The communication prior to our visit was immediate and so thoughtful in every aspect of our trip planning. We also enjoyed the Melrose Pool
but the beach is perfect for young children too!! Don’t hesitate to plan your trip
and Captain’s Choice will be your trip ever!!

Paradise island

We had a wonderful time on Daufuskie! And The Captains Choice was a little piece of heaven! It was very clean, great location, wonderful view. Love Love Love the tall ceilings, spacious front porch, large rooms and large bathrooms. We had everything we needed with beach chairs and towels! Truly the best!

This place is probably the most beautiful and clean VRBO we have ever stayed in. Spotlessly clean! Decorated beautifully, comfortable furniture with everything you could possibly need! The porch was huge and well furnished, a spot for everyone with a fantastic view of the ocean. When it was too dark to see the ocean, you can hear it and feel the ocean breeze. I highly recommend anyone going to Daufuskie, to stay here. Thank you, Terri!

Loved this Villa!

Everything about this villa was amazing. This was the cleanest property we have ever stayed in. It smelled fresh and clean the moment we walked in. Everything was decorated beautifully. We had everything we needed for our stay. It was just as described. The host even went above and beyond to leave out a pack and play for our infant to sleep in since we were trying to minimize the amount of luggage we could take on the boat. We would definitely use them again!

Relaxing Family Vacation

Captain’s Choice Never Disappoints

We had another great stay at the Captain’s Choice! (Our fourth!) The house is very well appointed and is more than accommodating for me and my husband. The screen porch is to die for and we spend lots of time there. The fact that this home includes a golf cart is priceless and it’s always full of gas and waiting for us. We’ll definitely be back!

Daufuskie is a dream with a hiccup on each end. :)

Getting there and getting to the cabin were the biggest challenges of the week, but once there we were absolutely enchanted by the quiet pace and crowd free environs. Our host was very responsive and easy to work with. The home itself, especially with the big front porch looking out at the ocean, just knocked our socks off. My 12 year old insisted on sleeping out on the "summer porch" as his grandmother called it. We'll be back.

Peaceful, Easy Feeling at The Captain's Choice

We recently finished our second stay this year at The Captain's Choice, and it was just as wonderful as the first. You cannot beat the view from this spacious and cheerful villa. If we weren't throwing tennis balls to our dog on the beach, or tooling around in the included golf cart, we were relaxing on the enormous screened porch. The Captain's Choice is as peaceful and beautiful as the island itself, and we hope to return next year. By the way, I haven't found a nicer host!

I never want to leave

I’m honestly scared to leave this review bc I don’t want people to discover this absolutely GEM and I don’t want Defauskie tainted by more people. But nevertheless- credit is certainly due here. 1- EXCEPTIONAL Vrbo property manager. Terri is FANTASTIC. I found the welcome packet super helpful as well as a map of the island. 2- the owners thought of literally everything. Anything you can imagine meeting, it was certainly there. It made our stay so easy and so pleasant. Now let’s get to the good stuff. The island is special. It’s mystical and enchanting and it just sucks you in and I honestly wish I didn’t have to leave. The beach? MAGICAL! We were the only family on the entire beach. I had a straight up spiritual moment one morning, walking on the beach that I will never forget. The people of the Islander so friendly, and they love to talk about the history and everything to do with it. Once you get over, the fact that there is no major restaurant or grocery store, you can learn to live there!! Highly recommend reading the welcome packet and taking the tips that they give you! Grab as many groceries as possible before leaving Hilton had to take on the ferry! By the way, absolutely recommend sitting on the top of the ferry so you can watch the dolphins on your ride over. My teenage son asked when are we coming back. I think that speaks VOLUMES! Thank youuuyy
