Nam Views | Da Nang: There is no doubt that life is full of surprises, some good and some bad. While nobody ever welcomes a bad surprise. A good one? Well, I’ll welcome that all day. Such is the case of me riding to Ba Na Hills in Da Nang. What I thought was going to be about a three hour ride to mainly to see the Golden Bridge (check back for pics) turned into an impromptu visit to Sunworld Ba Na Hills theme park. Sunworld Ba Na Hills is an expansive theme park overlooking Da Nang, sitting at 1487m above sea level and nestled in Ba Na Hills. Visiting the Golden Bridge alone might have taken a hour or so but there was so much to see and do here that I ended up spending about five hours at the theme park and I didn’t even get a chance to see all of it. All I can say is that this places was absolutely amazing and a photographers dream! As you can imagine with five hours here, I took a ton of pictures. Follow me here (if you’re not already following) to check out all the pics and vids I’ll be posting from this amazing place.

Nam Views | Da Nang: It’s such a pity the blue skies had just disappeared when I took this shot. This towering image of Buddha is set among one of the most beautiful back drops behind any image of Buddha. My fault when planning this trip or lack of planning, at least when it came to the weather. I usually don’t care too much about the time of year I choose to travel anywhere, unless it’s extremely cold or I’m going because of a holiday. Well, the monsoon season in South East Asia is something I will consider from now on. Though typically not starting until September and lasting through January, having being there in August I think I arrived early enough for the monsoon previews. Don’t get me wrong, I love this shot but just imagine what it looked like moments ago with blue skies in the background. In photography as with much of life, timing is everything. I guess I will have to take some time to visit Da Nang again in the future, because I know my time is not yet done here.

Nam Views | Da Nang: When traveling there is hype, there is real life but sometimes they are one in the same. From the moment my friend @vany_do262 (Instagram) told me about the Golden Bridge in Da Nang, Vietnam it quickly rose to the number one must see spot during my trip to Vietnam. One glance at any photo taken here and it is not hard see why. I would even go as far as to say that photos don’t even do it complete justice. Nicknamed the “Hand of God”, the Golden Bridge is a 150m bridge supported by a pair of giant hands that sits 1,400m above sea level overlooking Da Nang and the view is amazing. This attraction is really new, just opening in early June but as you can imagine is has been very popular with visitors traveling to Da Nang. I myself only came here to see the bridge but then found out is was a part of a larger theme park and ended up spending five hours here. The Golden Bridge, the hype is real!

Nam Views | Da Nang: Images of Buddha can be seen sitting or standing in various poses. One may think that any given pose may just just be one of aesthetics, focused on how the Buddha fits into any given environment. That is somewhat true however it’s not about the aesthetics but about what feeling the Buddha adds to a particular space and gives it’s onlookers. These traditional poses are related to important events in the life or past lives of the historical Buddha. There are over 100 poses referred to as an asana or an attitude, these are accompanied by specific hand gestures called a mudra.
.
The pose of the Buddha at Sun World Ba Na Hills is among one of the most commonly seen Buddha poses. It depicts the Buddha in a double lotus pose with ankles tucked behind each other and both hands in the lap faced up. This pose is known as the Meditation/Serenity/ or Calming Buddha. Buddhist devotes will look towards this Buddha pose when seeking peace or calm in their lives. People who meditate at home will often use this image of Buddha when setting up a serenity room or a place in a corner of their home as a place where they can sit and relax for a bit.
.
Or daily lives can be hectic and we can easily find ourselves going through the day without taking any time to just sit and relax for a moment. My challenge to anyone reading this, if possible, is to stop whatever it is you’re doing and sit and do nothing for at least 2 minutes. Take a moment clear your head, turn on some calming music if necessary, you will be surprised how much better you feel when you take a mental break from everything, even if it’s just for a moment.

Nam Views | Da Nang: There is a reggae song by Bounty Killer feat. Junior Reid & Busta Rhymes called “Change Like the Weather”, looking at this image and comparing it to the first image I posted of the Golden Bridge I can’t help but hear that song playing in my mind. The skies were so blue! Picture perfect blue! Regardless though and even with the clouds taking over the sky, this bridge is still magnificent. Aptly nick named “The Hand of God”, when you look out at Da Nang from the arches of the Golden Bridge and regardless of your faith, you can’t help but appreciate the beautiful earth our creator has given us. Just look around and you will see everything that we need is all right here, conveniently place on this earth just for us. What a perfect world! Thanks again @vany_do262 for your suggestion!
