A quintessential cabin-in-the-woods getaway awaits at this wonderful vacation rental. Perfect for a quiet couple's weekend or an extended getaway with friends, this log cabin has a wood-burning fireplace and a private deck.

Located on Strawberry Creek in the San Jacinto mountains about 50 miles west of Palm Springs, this home sits in a quiet wooded location in the mountain town of Idyllwild. Take a short hike to Idyllwild's town center, embark on a mountain bike tour of the local wilderness, or shop for some cool new threads. Spend the day hiking at Mount San Jacinto State Park, attending a play at The Rustic Theater, or shopping among clothing boutiques, cafes, and funky souvenir shops in Idyllwild's town center a half mile north. There's also fishing, stand-up paddle boarding, and other aquatic activities on Lake Hemet (eight miles south).

If you're in the mood for a day trip, drive 23 miles west to Hemet, where you'll find the fun Fingerprints Youth Museum (sure to be a hit with your kids), live music and theater at the Ramona Bowl Amphitheater, and boating on Diamond Valley Lake. Hemet also boasts golf courses, hiking and biking trails, and wildlife viewing in Simpson Park.

A rustic cabin with updated appliances, this home is a great choice for the adventurous vacationer who wants to have a true wilderness experience without giving up modern conveniences. On a cold winter day, throw some wood in the fireplace and relax on one of the couches as the fire warms the home. Read a book by firelight, or switch on one of the living area's lamps and gather your group for a fun board game. Lounge on the futon and take a relaxing nap while snow falls outside, or put in a DVD and enjoy an afternoon movie with your group.

When it comes time to eat, cook hearty meals using a variety of cookware and the kitchen's modern appliances, which include a microwave, a stove, and an oven. Eat together with your group at the custom knotty pine dining table, or head onto the deck to dine al fresco if the weather permits. Admire the pine woodlands while you swap stories of your day's adventures and savor a fresh, home-cooked meal.

Take a post-meal soak in the bathroom's clawfoot tub or sit on the outdoor deck and listen to the sounds of nature all around you.

excellent, wonderful cabin stay, minus the bed
This was a wonderful place to stay. Great fireplace, large living space, absolutely gigantic table. Very short walk into town. Magnificently uncomfortable bed. Highly recommend the owner update this one thing.

Falsely advertised with a hot tub, dirty bathroom, worn out bed, dirty couch
We rented this property because it was advertised and pictured with a hot tub, which is important when going in the winter since there is almost nothing to do in Idyllwild during winter. There wasn't a working hot tub! The bathroom tub was filthy with scum and pubic hair. I cleaned and filled it but it flooded the floor with leaks. The toilet leaked raw sewage from underneath when it was flushed, so I had to clean that up to so we wouldn't walk in it. Since there was nothing else to do, I decided to make a fire. There was no firewood so I had to buy some in town for $40 from a local. It turned out to be wet. The bed in worn out and sags in the middle. I came home with a sore neck and back. We barely slept either night. The couch looks like a dumpster find and was covered by filthy looking blankets and pillows. I asked for service with these issues and got none. I then asked for a refund and it took a week of effort to get $66 dollars back. What a joke, terrible customer service!

Great time
I loved this cabin. Everything needed was there to use. Close to all of the restaurants and cute stores. Will be coming back in the future.

Weekend retreat
Overall the property is quite vintage and seems a bit neglected. The bed wasn't comfortable. The house smelled smoky even with it opened up all day. The key for the back door wasn't convenient. Some outlets didn't seem to work. A lighter was required to lite the stove and the one at the cabin wasn't working, so I had to purchase one. Why have furniture on the deck if no cushions? Finding homeless people at Strawberry Creek wasn't a bonus either. The weekend was a nice getaway, but I didn't feel the value for the $ was consistent with this property.

Great place, great location, visits from landlord
This property was amazing, the accommodations were awesome. The location was awesome. The only complaint we had was that the landlord seem to walk by often and it felt a little bit like we were being watched/we were intruders.

Ideal getaway
This cabin offers a rustic charm without being overly primitive. It strikes a balance between modern comforts and cozy elements. I am staying here to unplug for a few days to finish writing a book. This cabin is perfect for anyone wanting to unwind and get off the grid for a few days. The property appeared clean and tidy and rooms smelled wonderfully of previous fireplace fires. Drapes were pulled which kept the cabin cool, even when Idyllwild’s temperature was in the mid-80’s. The main room is dark, but there are plenty of lamps. The kitchen is small but workable and better stocked than most cabins. The tiny oven is functional. Eating utensils are a hodge-podge, typical of a cabin. Wine glasses are light (but there are ample cups, plates, mugs, and bowls – as well as plastic for the hot tub.) Coffee maker and filters were supplied (bring your own coffee) as well as a microwave and toaster. Hot tub was warm and ready for a dip. Plenty of games, books, and fireplace wood. The bed was comfortable There are plenty of bathroom cabinets– and a good supply of linens – plus ample hot water for the claw-foot tub. The creek behind the cabin, just a short jaunt away, can be heard from the deck. There’s Wi-Fi on property. There are cabins in close proximity and, since it’s right off the road, you hear cars –I’m here on off-season and it’s definitely worth the rate I booked. I will be coming back again.

Amazing Cabin to extended stays
The cabin was rustic, cute and comfortable. We had everything we needed for an extended stay. The only issue was the cleanliness under items like the couches, tables and bed was lacking. But it is a cabin and we had a great time. Close to town which was super convenient. This would have been a 5 star rating had the mattress not been so uncomfortable. It was sunken in pretty bad in the middle. Easy fix and we have seen this review on several reviews before ours.
