A Perfect Base For Exploring Skye And The Cuillin

Nyumbani is a traditional single storey Skye cottage situated in its own wrap around gardens overlooking beautiful Loch Harport on the stunning west coast of the Isle of Skye. Nyumbani mean 'our home', in Swahili, and this aptly describes this attractive cottage, with its homely lounge/dining room with open fire, deep leather sofas, family sized kitchen and 3 generously proportioned bedrooms. There is a lovely conservatory that provides a second lounge area, with large flat screen TV and DVD. Doors open onto the fully enclosed gardens that surround the property. Bed linen & towels provided.

Un sĂ©jour inoubliable dans cette douillette maison. L arrivĂ©e des plus chaleureuse avec la musique et petite lumiĂšre ! TrĂšs confortable, bien Ă©quipĂ©e, jolie dĂ©coration cosy et des tableaux de l Ăźle de skye pour s immerger. La vĂ©randa incroyable, l impression d ĂȘtre seuls au monde. La vue sur le loch de la chambre et du salon est magnifique. IdĂ©ale pour visiter l Ăźle de skye et le soir se retrouver au chaud dans cette maison. Merci beaucoup !!!

Short stay on Skye

We had a good time here! The property is big and had all the necessities. It is a very peaceful and beautiful area. The road that leads there is a single lane road, so it was a bit stressful to get there by car, and there is no grocery nearby. It is very easy to get to the Talisker distillery and to the fairy pools from there. Overall, it was an amazing place to stay!

Le logement comprend 3 chambres dont 2 avec 2 lits sĂ©parĂ©s , malheureusement nous avons des puces( pas de lit). La salle de bain est ancienne. ProblĂšme de chauffage. Pas de wc sĂ©parĂ©. L’emplacement est bon.

Formidable

Des vacances en novembre en Ecosse, sur l’üle de Skye, c'Ă©tait un peu osĂ©. Cependant, 4 jours de soleil, un gĂźte trĂšs confortable malgrĂ© quelques soucis de chauffage, les paysages de bord de loch et mer magnifiques, l'accueil chaleureux des Ă©cossais , tout Ă©tait rĂ©uni pour un superbe sĂ©jour. La distillerie Tallisker, le restaurant The three Chimeys, la ferme aux fruits de mer et le bar de Carbost sont des incontournables ainsi que Portree, ...Nous y retournerons trĂšs certainement.

We loved the location! It was great having a dryer. House layout was great, especially loved the sun room. The room with the double bed was very comfortable, but the rooms with the 2 twins were not adequate for adults-very springy and soft. Supplies were inadequate for our group of 6.

We had difficulties locating the property and we were unable to reach the host and her caretaker via the phone numbers that were provided. Fortunately we were able to find the property after running back and forth the road. Once inside the property everything was fine. The property had proper heating and amenities that provided us with a comfortable stay. It was very spacious so we had our own space.

The house has wonderful views and is well located near Carbost and most things you would want to see. It is up a long, narrow road, better traveled for the first time during the day, but then most places up there are! The house was warmer than expected, but it could use some new blankets.

the house was not ready for us untill after 5pm the towels were still in tumble tryer it could do with a new basin for sink in kitchen the taps for the bath tub did not work and with two children we could used it my opinion it lacks a womens touch the man who looks after the property was very nice but you could do better

Het was een normaal huis met enigszins gedateerd meubilair. Harde matrassen met vering. 2 nachten verbleven en ongeveer een half uur wandelen naar Carbost. Eind oktober is er niet veel meer te beleven, om uit eten te gaan, supermarkt in de buurt is er eigenlijk niet, maar het uitzicht was subliem! Uniek wakker worden! Mooi punt om het eiland verder te verkennen.

While the cottage is cute and has an amazing view, the photos are extremely dated as are some of the amenities. It's not a drive you would want to make in the dark, so go early and add an extra 20-25 minutes to any day trip you would like to take. The house is no longer alone on the hill as neighbors have encroached so if you are looking at that gorgeous photo of the isolated cottage (as I was) it's a disappointment. In addition, there are now 14 VERY steep stairs. It accommodates improved parking, but it would have been nice to know beforehand.I am certain there will be updates to the property and that will make it a five star booking. As it is, if the photos were current, we'd been able to make an informed choice and might have chosen a different location.

photo's of the listing are not accurate. The large steps on the entrance are replaced by a high steep stair. If I had known this, I would not have booked this place since stairs are an obstacle to me.Tough the property looks good on photo, and the rest of the photo's is correct, the bathroom needs some maintenanceThe cottage has a good heating and comfortable seats, kitchen is well equiped.The bedrooms are spacious and pleasant. But for the main bedroom, a king size or 2 1-persons beds would be al lot more comfortable and the room is large enough. In my opinion the matras is to hard.

Lovely little spot on top of the hill near the Talisker Distillery. Property was as described and there were plenty of sheep nearby so you'd often hear a random bleat in the moments of silence. Would return!

Very comfortable home with lots of room. Great for a base to explore Skye or to just relax. The house was very clean, but a little worn and the kitchen equipment a bit sparse. The Talisker distillery is close by and The Old Inn is definitely worth a visit for a pint and some food.
