THE SPACE

Step out onto the balcony on the fourth floor and the Atlantic opens up right in front of you, the view carrying into the living room and both king bedrooms instead of staying out on the balcony alone. This Shipwatch condo sits right along the water, close enough that the sound of the surf is part of the stay. Dogs are welcome here, one of the few Casago units on Amelia Island where that is true, so the whole family, four-legged members included, can come along. Self check-in means no waiting around after a long drive, and the fourth-floor location keeps things quiet above the everyday beach traffic.

A FOURTH-FLOOR BALCONY OVER THE ATLANTIC

The private balcony opens off the living room and both bedrooms, looking straight out over the Atlantic rather than a parking lot or courtyard. Morning coffee here comes with a real ocean view, and the fourth-floor height keeps that view open well past the dunes and rooftops below.

The open floor plan connects the living room straight through to the balcony, so the ocean view is part of the space even from the sofa. A TV with standard cable and satellite is set up in the living room for anyone who wants to unwind after a beach day, and the layout keeps the whole living area bright and connected to the water outside.

KITCHEN AND DINING

The well-equipped kitchen comes with a full range of cooking basics, from a dishwasher and coffee maker to pots, pans, and a blender, so cooking real meals here is easy rather than a workaround. It is set up for the whole family to eat in together rather than defaulting to takeout every night.

An elevator serves the building, though there are about 5 stairs between the elevator landing and the unit hallway on this floor.

The beach is a short walk from the condo, crossing what was once a golf course fairway to reach the sand. Fernandina Beach's historic downtown, with its shops and restaurants, is only minutes away by car.

GOOD TO KNOW

Pets are allowed, no smoking anywhere on the premises. Check-in is after 4:00 PM and check-out is before 10:00 AM, with a maximum occupancy of four guests. This is a 4th-floor unit; an elevator is available, with about 5 stairs between the elevator landing and the unit hallway, so the property is not wheelchair accessible. Quiet hours run from 10:00 PM to 8:00 AM, and trailers and motorcycles are not permitted in the gated community. Free parking is available on premises, with no registration fee. All guests must stop at Amelia Island Plantation's main security gate at 11 Beach Lagoon Rd to obtain a visitor pass before proceeding to the rental.
