Boat trip

Hotel with Character
Pros:The historical character.
Cons:Helpfulness of staff. Friendliness as well.
Location:Very seedy area. Not much to do nearby. Do not travel there on a weekend because everything is dead. You don't want to venture out at night.
We arrived at the hotel late (last flight out of Barbados) on a Saturday night and was briefly greeted by the receptionist but checked in by the security guard. The room was old but had tremendous character. The AC in the room sort of blast on and off and not really maintaining a comfortable cool. There was only a sheet to cover yourself with so if you like to snuggle under a blanket in a cool room, you are out of luck. We were awakened by noise outside our room every morning of our stay. The outside noise reminded me of the hustle and bustle of a fish market.
On our first full day there, a Sunday, we found out that you could only eat breakfast at the hotel. No other meals are provided at their restaurant on Sundays (despite what travel magazines report). There was no effort by the staff to provide us with alternative restaurants or make any suggestions. The entire downtown area is dead except for drugs addicts. The hotel is great if you are staying one night and leaving early the next morning or catching the ferry.
The biggest disappointment was that the hotel staff made no effort to make any suggestions as to where to eat, no guidance whatsoever, not friendly, and the wifi was a hit and miss, When we needed a taxi, we were told that we had to walk half a block down to find one. This was at night and the area is seedy. Thankfully, we found a wonderful taxi driver- Willo- that was incredibly honest and provided suggestions. We won't stay here again.
