This is a beautiful house! The kitchen is a dream for a large crowd like we are, I have a family of 18 and we had plenty of room. The host was wonderful to work with. We plan on staying again.
We were a group of 12 women and had a great time. The house was clean and the kitchen is well equipped. Lots of room to spread out. Nice view of the lake. Good and easy communication with the host.
Our August stay at Southern Comfort was awesome! We spent the whole week swimming, boating, and hanging out on the dock. We loved the fire pit, baking, geocaching, reading, hot tubbing, playing ping pong and board games. The area is absolutely gorgeous, particularly with coffee in-hand on an early summer morning when the fog hasnât yet cleared. The house was very clean and quite comfortable, and the kitchen was large enough for two to three people cooking and baking, and even had some bonus appliances like an instant pot! There was plenty of room in the whole house for our group of 19 (half of which were kids under 10), and we appreciated that just about every bedroom had its own bathroom. It might be worth noting that not all of the bedrooms have ceiling fans, and a few people mentioned it was warm in their rooms at night. We did have a couple of things arise during the week, and Mary Beth, who was absolutely a pleasure to interact with, responded quickly, and had someone out to fix things within the day. For future renters, I would mention two things that you should know, though they donât reflect on the house or owner. One, that the driveway to the property is quite steep; something to be aware of if you have a high-profile vehicle like some in our group. And second, be aware that the area has a 10pm noise curfew, and sound really carries on the water; if you have children who are in bed before then, we recommend bringing sound machines. All in all, loved it!
We recently had a family getaway with 17 guests and there was plenty of room for everyone. We enjoyed the dock and lake a lot and the kayak was used frequently. We were also frequently on the decks, enjoyed the hot tub and had a ping pong tournament. We appreciated the well stocked kitchen and 2 dishwashers and found it was easy to prepare meals together with plenty of seating for everyone. The property is in a very hilly area so walking each morning, and to the pool or overflow parking was a workout, but there was easily room for all 5 cars at the house. The only thing that we found to be peculiar and a drawback was that we had to make our beds upon arrival and were only allotted 1 roll of toilet paper for each bathroom. I've never encountered that in any other VRBO property so it felt odd. Other than that it was a great place to be! The owner answered questions promptly and made check in and out very easy.
House was wonderful for a large group. We appreciated the ample space, enjoyed having 2 refrigerators on the main level and the firewood was provided. It was so nice not having to worry about having enough seating for everyone and the cove felt very safe. We had a great stay!
We really enjoyed our stay at this lake house and would happily recommend it for family gatherings. The home is spacious and well thought out, with plenty of sleeping optionsâsome bedrooms even had bunkbeds or sofas in addition to beds, which really maximized capacity. A big bonus was that every bedroom had its own en suite bathroom, giving everyone their own private space. The setting is beautiful, tucked into a wooded cove on the lake with peaceful views and very little boat traffic, which made it feel more natural and relaxing. We also enjoyed the clean, easy-to-access community pool, and the owner was fantastic to work withâcommunicative, responsive, and friendly throughout.A couple of downsides to note: parking can be tricky. The shared driveway with another large house meant a lot of vehicles in a tight space, and while overflow parking is available, itâs a bit of a walk. Also, anytime we cooked or used the ovens, the first floor would heat up significantly, and the AC struggled to keep the main living and dining areas comfortable during meals.Overall, this is a wonderful house in a great location, with thoughtful amenities and lots of room for families to spread out. With a few adjustments to parking and cooling, it would be perfect.
We stayed at Southern Comfort 1 for our annual family get together. The house was perfect for our 3 generations of adult couples and singles. The house is three levels, each level with bedrooms, a common area, and a deck overlooking the lake. Two frigs on the top level frig and commercial ice maker on the lower level worked great for a large groups food and drink needs. 3 tables on the top level worked perfect for group meals, games, and cards. Bedrooms were spacious and well appointed. AC worked well; humidity was oppressive the week we were there. Lake houses take a beating but this one was in pretty good shape. Dock worked well for swimming and hanging out, plenty of chairs on the top level for those hanging out. We brought a 26â speedboat and had plenty of room in the slip. Local ramp 2 blocks away was a plus; avoided a 20 min drive and 25 launch fee at closest marina. Boat trailer parking was challenging but appears ok to leave on green space adjacent to paved roads if lot is full. Cannot leave the vehicle attached to the trailer though, must park in separate designated area. Driveway is steep but manageable for all of our (older) crew. DO NOT try to bring a boat or trailer down the drive. Plenty of room to park our 6 vehicles. Marybeth was extremely responsive and helpful, one of the best hosts weâve had. Highly recommend and we will be back in the future.
Mary Beth Comfort is an awesome hostâŠ.promptly answering our questions prior to booking, during our trip planning and after our arrival. She responded immediately to a repair that needed to be done. The house was clean and provided all items described in their information. It is a great home in a great place
Location was wonderful! Despite a handful of neighbors, we loved being tucked back in a cove where the water was calm. There was plenty of room for each family member. We enjoyed our daily swims off the dock.
The house was awesome. Everything was clean. Main floor was large - more than enough room for the 17 of us. The decks were large and enjoyable. Second and third floor common areas were really nice. Bedrooms were great. Some beds were ok. Most were very good.Wonderful kitchen. The two dishwashers were a nice plus. Loved the fire pit. Swimming was loved by all. We rented a pontoon boat from Oasis and that worked out great. Our four-family annual gathering was blessed by all the house had to offer.
We booked this cabin for my husbands graduation weekend. The cabin was clean and beautiful. The best part was all of the space. Everyone had their own bathroom and plenty of room to not feel crowded. We loved the lake enjoyed our evening swimming and enjoying the back porch! The host was very accommodating prior to arrival and helped me plan the trip perfectly. A storm came through and a tree fell down across the driveway prior to us leaving for my husbands graduation. After contacting the host she called and got us to the top of the list for someone to bring a chainsaw and help us get out. We made it just in time for my husband to graduate!!!
We held a 17-person family reunion over 4 days. The home was wonderful, as described. It's an older group, so the numerous flights of stairs to the dock was challenging for some. That was expected. There was plenty of space, really well-equipped with devices and appliances. The dock area could have been a bit tidier. Check-in was a little confusing because it's a gated community, and we were not given a code for the outer gate. Had to call owner. The only other issue was the hot water conked out day 2. The owner did everything to fix it quickly, but we were without hot water for a day . Many of us felt we should have been offered some compensation, but we weren't. Otherwise, all good.
My family stayed at this gorgeous property for our New Years reunion. The house is very spacious and VERY well-equipped. MaryBeth was super helpful with all questions. I would recommend this beautiful place and will definitely be coming back.
Great place to stay for a medium sized group. The info regarding the entry gate to the community was not clear, but other than that, everything was awesome!
Great spot for a family visit celebrating 3 birthdays. House accommodated 10 people easily. Plenty of space for all. Very clean and relaxing location. We all had a great time.
Very favorable property overall. Everyone who stayed with us remarked how well this worked out for our reunion. Couldnât have worked out better. Would definitely stay here again.
We really enjoyed ourselves. Off season the lake house is on a quiet and peaceful cove. Lovely view. We were a large group of 60+ adults and there was plenty of room to spread out when we wanted to and also large spaces to gather. Kitchen was very well equipped. Just a heads up, if anyone in your group needs an ADA compliant bathroom or access through interior doors etc. unfortunately this is not the place.
Weâve stayed at Southern Comfort I before and this time was no different, beautiful, perfect location and all the amenities! You canât go wrong here!
wonderful house great location, recommend a couple of things. First one of the coffee pots does not work, a pod style maker would be really nice as well. The toaster only works on one side. for a house this big we have always had 2 four slice toasters. A Blackstone grill would be great as we brought our own from home. There are always small issues that are not worth mentioning because the house is that good. I am 63 years old, and I don't know how many more years I can do the steps to the lake.
