We take pride in using non-toxic cleaning supplies, providing a healthier and more natural alternative, while being just as effective to synthetic-based conventional cleaners.
We are making efforts towards water conservation in La Paz. We are adopting water-efficient technologies, growing mostly native vegetation in our decorative gardens, promoting responsible water usage, and building urban rainwater capture basins.
Finally, we provide canvas grocery bags you can use in your trips to the local stores, farmerâs and fish markets.
The Neighborhood:
Only a block away from the boardwalk promenade, Casa del Desierto is in a quiet neighborhood with very little noise. Essentially, the promenade is your neighborhood.
On the promenade you can find a variety of restaurants and bars, as well as kayak and paddleboard rentals.
The restaurant Tailhunter, a very popular expat hangout, is located on the block across the street on the sidewalk facing the promenade. There is a tiny seafood stand on the right side of the same block (as you face the promenade), which has excellent ceviche, and makes for a very local food experience.
If you take a right onto the promenade youâll head towards the main tourist area, which is about 5 blocks away (a 5-minute walk) and 2 blocks inland.
Youâll be able to find the local market, Aramburo, as well as all our favorite restaurnants, including Tres Virgenes, Prana, and Sorstis, as well the hip coffee shop Doce Cuarenta. Donât forget to try the fantastic pork tamales from the vendor that sets up just outside Aramburo.
The farmerâs market sets up just outside Doce Cuarenta the mornings of every Tuesday and Saturday. There are some excellent meat and vegetable stands, as well as various shops selling all kinds of housewares and handmade items.

How close is Casa del Desierto to downtown La Paz?
Lovely and spacious home in a great location adjacent to the Malecon! The house was better than the pictures. Well stocked, and quieter than being directly on the Malecon. Roof top patio area was a highlight!
Unfortunately we did not use the hot tub as we were too busy doing other things, but it appeared clean. A maintenance person came during our stay to perform maintenance. The view from the north and south sides of the balcony were wonderful. There is a building obstructing the view from the center, but it did not affect the beauty and serenity of the balcony.
Perfect location for me. As I fished every other day with Tailhunter. As their restaurant is in form of the house. Great location, lots of action on the Malecon-but still quiet to relax. Already booked it for next season!! Hot tub was a great relaxing pint in the morning and in the evening.
This house was perfect for our vacation. Location was amazing! We walked to pretty much everything and VERY close to the Malecon. We used the rooftop every night. There is a building in front of the house but you still get beautiful views of the ocean and sunsets. The kitchen did not have many tools or spices but we ate out most of our stay anyway. Floors could use a good mop but didn't bother us. Great house with AC units in every room. Bathrooms in every room which is so convenient and great for privacy. If we return to La Paz we will definitely book again.
We stayed 6 weeks and really got to know the space and neighborhood.
Ana was a real ârock starâ! She responded quickly and effectively to the few issues we had. The gate to the front terrace was broken and she brought repairmen in with a welder to fix it! The kitchen is supplied with basic utensils. I like to cook so hit one of the many local houseware/department stores for a few more kitchen supplies, which I left behind.
The few things we asked to have repaired are those staying just a few days will simply overlook. As someone who also has a VRBO and is staying long term, I hope it was appreciated that I brought them to the ownerâs attention. This home is very clean but could use some minor refreshing. The operator manual needs updating, chipped dish ware needs replacing, some screen doors did not fit well and the draperies needed hooks and were hard to open and close. The kitchen could use some counter task lighting.
This is the first time weâve stayed in a neighborhood in Mexico, so the car alarms and barking dogs are something to get used to. Bring industrial grade ear plugs!
The building in front obstructs what would be a panoramic view from the top terrace but blocks much of the noise at night from the nearby Malacon. Instead, it has two million dollar views! The hot tub is wonderful, but can take up to three hours to heat.
With the many excellent shops and restaurants nearby we found a car unnecessarily, unless itâs to visit the beautiful towns and beaches nearby.
Great property and location. Host was amazing communicator. Very clean and exactly as advertised. Even came with extras like a welcome cake and some coffee. Only issue was the dogs next door barking a lot, but that's not the fault of the property. Would stay again.
My girlfriends and I come to La Paz once a year for anual Dr. Appointments and to shop. This house was perfect for us with total privacy bedrooms and on suites. We didnât have much time to spend there as we did a lot of running around, but definitely reserve it next year if available. Property mgr. Monica was very responsive and an excellent host!!
We enjoyed Casa del Desierto. Lots of space - a perfect set-up for 2 couples, or a family and a couple. Well appointed and charming home. Great communication from the host, easy-to-follow check-in, and good information in the house.
We stayed in Casa del Desierto for 4 nights in late March. The home has 3 nice bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. We did not need the air conditioning but it is available for warmer weather. The washer and dryer were very much appreciated. The house is one block from the Malecon and only 3-4 blocks from many good restaurants and shops. We parked our car in the nice off-street parking provided and never used our car to get around La Paz. It is a very walkable city if you stay in this area. The lighting could be improved a bit in the living room and especially in the kitchen. The online photos give the impression of unobstructed views of the bay, however there is a large apartment building directly in front of this house, so much of the view from the rooftop patio is blocked by this building. This is why the rooftop photos are shown at strong angles. Overall, the beds were very comfortable and the entire house was very clean. We were very pleased with our visit.
Great house and location. Beautiful as the web pictures, except there is a condo between the house and the bay, partially blocking view. Probably would have given 5 stars if not for the 3 dogs next door that barked early each morning when they were let out.
The house was comfortable and in an excellent location. Adequate parking. The neighborhood is not âquietâ as there are 4 dogs next door that bark almost constantly. Even with doors and windows shut and earplugs, it was difficult to sleep most nights. The 4th floor hot tub was great and an excellent view to the side of the monstrous 4 story building directly across from the house. Too bad that was allowed to be built as an unobstructed view would have been fantastic. Very receptive host who addressed all of our concerns almost immediately.
