Pros: Very good location. Located by the highway, 10 minute to the entrance of Shenandoah National Park, and 5 minute to the town center of Luray. The amenity is actually good. Although being a motel, the room is more like a suite without kitchen. Cons: The cleanliness is a nightmare. The beddings and mattress have plenty of human hair and dirty stuff. There is a big brown stain on the sink. The pool is outdoor and unguarded. The price is almost double of a regular motel. Yes the room is spacious with good amenities. Yes we booked it at the peak season of SNP. But it is still way too expensive for a motel. Overall: Ok and just ok for one night stay for the park. 2.5/5.

I would definitely stay here again. We were here for a long weekend getaway visiting Shenandoah. Check in was a breeze. Staff was friendly. The room was tidy and clean and appeared to be remodeled. The room was exactly what we needed and was a short distance from Walmart, gas and restaurants as well as the middle of Shenandoah.

Nice Place to Stay in Luray Close to Shenandoah

Hillside is a classic motel but with the rooms refurbished to a more modern look. We had a room with a queen size bed for two nights and admittedly it was cozy, meaning small. But it was clean and comfortable with no issues. The ac/heater is typical window style and was kind of loud but didn't effect our sleep. The motel is a couple of miles outside of town but easy to get to area restaurants. More importantly it was very convenient to get into Shenandoah NP, just a few miles east.

The room was clean and it had been updated. There is parking right in front which is nice and convenient. The staff was friendly and since it is fall the pool was drained for the season. I would stay here again even though the town of Luray doesn’t have much going on besides the caverns and stopping by Cooter’s Place.

The staff was friendly, helpful, and accommodating. They were a good resource for the amenities in nearby Luray. The hotel is a quaint mashup of rustic/Spartan and updated. The furnishings and decor we're nice, but the closet needed a bit of work with an exposed water line. TP was pretty thin. For my wife who has mobility issues, only a couple of rooms might be considered handicapped accessible. The staff helped us find workarounds, but it's definitely something to keep in mind.
