The Barn at Evermore
The Barn at Evermore is a historic riverfront cabin that perfectly blends rustic with modern comfort. Perched at the edge of the Shenandoah River on over three acres of land with mountain views, the Barn is the ideal getaway for families and groups. Spend your morning sipping coffee on the 70-foot deck; later, canoe, kayak, or fish off the private dock. In the evening, play pool, ping pong, or indoor basketball, then wind down in the hot tub, roast s'mores in the fire pit and stargaze.
The original Barn structure is over 100 years old, and boasts soaring 35 foot ceilings and original woodwork throughout. Surrounded by trees on one side and open acreage on the other, the Barn offers ultimate seclusion and privacy. Because of our location on the river, the water right off our dock is calm, making it perfect for relaxing water activities and swimming.
Upon arrival you will find parking on both sides of the property. The first entrance right after the mailbox is a gravel driveway that can accommodate 3-4 cars. The second entrance after passing the property is a gravel parking lot that can accommodate 10+ cars.
The home can be entered from the back entrances facing the river. The primary entrance is the sliding door on the top deck next to the hot tub. The lower basement entrance across from the deck stairs is also available especially with heavy luggage or adverse weather.
REC ROOM
The main barn rec area has a basketball hoop, ping pong table and pool table, and other games, as well as a fully functioning wood-burning fireplace. Please note that the bedrooms, bathrooms, living area, kitchen and basement are all heated and air conditioned, but the rec room is not. We provide fans, space heaters, and wood for the fireplace to ensure year-round comfort.
BEDROOMS AND BATHROOMS
The barn has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Bedroom 1 is on the main level with the kitchen and main bathroom, and has two twin beds and one bunk bed. Bedrooms 2 and 3 with queen beds are on the upper level and share the upper level bathroom. Please note that the third queen bedroom is located in the basement and guests will need to head upstairs to the main floor for a restroom. The other three bedrooms have quick/same-floor restroom access.
KITCHEN
The rec room leads to the enclosed kitchen with a dining table that seats 8. Flowing from the kitchen is a smaller living area that allows for even more room to spread out and socialize as a family or group while dinner is prepared. The fully stocked kitchen comes equipped with all the necessary cooking tools, coffee, paper goods, and dinnerware.
OUTDOOR SPACE
The deck has ample seating, a large grill (propane provided), outdoor dining area, and a six person hot tub. In the basement garage, you'll find two canoes, two kayaks, tubes, life jackets and plenty of lawn games (corn hole, volleyball, etc.). The outdoor fire pit has campfire seating and complimentary firewood is provided.

How close is The Barn at Evermore to downtown Luray?
Overall an ok property, but with lots of issues. The basketball hoop and ping pong table were both broken, so the kids were disappointed to not have those, and the ping pong table was in such a state that it was a danger to have in the middle of the space with kids around. Likewise the river was a miss, it was so filled with slime that no one would want to swim or play in it, fishing was also impossible since every cast the lure would come back dragging a bunch of slime, although kayaking and canoeing was still fun. The grill was nice (blackstone griddle) but ran out of propane halfway through cooking dinner the first night (and the spare tank was also empty), so we had to adjust our dinner plan on the fly. When we contacted the owners they told us to go exchange the propane tank at a near by place, so extra cost and time that we had to deal with for something that was supposed to be taken care of. House was also not in great condition; loose door knobs falling out, very poorly installed dishwasher (would almost fall out when you opened it and blocked a drawer)The fire pit was great, very well set up and plenty of wood. Was also better equipped then lots of rentals, things like poster towel, coffee, filters, oil, spices, soap, etc - little things that you normally have to bring with you to a rental. Yard area was nice, great for playing games. Good location, near luray and some other activities. Some potential depending on what you want to do, but we would not go back.
Lots of cool stuff and activities for the kids- table tennis, billiards, basketball, volleyball, horseshoe, badminton, kayaking, canoeing, fire pit, very fun place to stay with a great porch. Can get hot in the summer though with only a portion of the barn with AC.
Itâs an incredibly unique property, clean, comfortable, well-equipped, with lots to do. We took advantage of everything - fire pit, kayaks & canoes, billiards, ping pong, indoor basketball, as well as Luray Caverns, and Shenandoah National Park. It was a perfect space for two families with kids, teens, and a dog. I only wish we could have stayed longer!
This place was perfect for our two families, it is such a beautiful, unique, fun property. We had 4 kids aged 5-8 and we all had an absolute blast. We were able to enjoy sâmores at the fire pit, the canoes and kayaks, did some fishing (caught two sunfish!) and spent the better part of a day at the Luray Caverns which were less than 10 minutes away. It was very clean and well supplied for a comfortable stay. I highly recommend this place for a relaxing getaway with the family!
Wanted a unique, quiet place in the country to celebrate my 50th birthday with my family and was not disappointed. I arrived at night so it was very dark and the structure is a bit disjointed when you're navigating it the first time so check-in was interesting but I quickly got my bearings and in the light of day everything was beautiful. We went when it was cold and the open barn area gets equally cold, but you warm up quick playing basketball and ping pong and there are space heaters and a great fireplace available for added comfort. The bedrooms above the barn are configured in such a way that you have to keep the doors closed to keep them heated, as the hallway immediately outside them is open to the barn. That was my only minor gripe. The kitchen/living room area was a nice place to play games and hang out in a temp controlled setting. Our pups had an equally great time running around the barn area and grounds. The grounds just couldn't be prettier. The river view is gorgeous. There was plenty of supplies including firewood and kindling. We didn't really need to get anything aside from food and beverages. Close to Luray, which is a plus for me but mostly we just enjoyed the barn and all it had to offer. Had a completely wonderful experience with the family and would definitely come again.
Three couples and our pups stayed here for the weekend and it was such a nice little getaway! Very rustic, we enjoyed games, kayaking and even sâmores by the fire. Host was super accommodating and was always available to communicate throughout our stay. Very cozy and cool place. Hope to come back soon
The barn was great for me and my 7 friends. The place has all the games/activities you could want to play with plenty of room for everyone. The barn has great views of the river and mountains. the hosts are very easy to communicate with and are accommodating. The golf course at Luray Caverns was 15 mins away and was beautiful. We would recommended 100%!!
Great location and enjoyed the communication from the owners about our stay over the 4th of July. Fireworks in Luray are best seen by going to the downtown celebration in Luray. We kayaked, tubed and went fishing on the river near the massanutten boat ramp and also upstream at Newport to the Alma boat ramp. The Barn was a neat property and love the old post and beam construction. The layout worked well for 3 adults and 5 teens ranging in age from 16-18.
