Getting Around:
Location logistics: Youâre within walking distance of Canyon Lodge and the Village Gondola. Youâre also a short drive to The Village at Mammoth shops/dining, Shady Rest and Mammoth Creek parks, the Town Loop Path, Sierra Star Golf (seasonal), Mammoth Rock ânâ Bowl, and more.
Check in and out were a breeze. The unit was well maintained and very conveniently located for those who want to be close to the lifts. Would definitely stay here again!
Location is the best. Clean. Bidets? What an upgrade. Kitchen is a bit small and lacking on serving bowls. But overall great unit and would stay there again.
Enough utensils & dishes. Slow cooker would be good to have. Clean! Loved the floor without carpet in the dining &living area! Toto warm toilet seats at 2 toilets were good. Wished to have it in all toilets though. No cable tvâŠall units we stayed at Chamonix for past 3-4 years had cable tv so we expected to have it. We had to subscribe peacock to watch Super Bowl/olympics. We only stay at one of units in chamonix as we visit mammoth 2-3 times a year for at least 3 nights each time.
Location is great. However pots were dirty upon arrival and supplies are sub-par for price. Bring everything. Communication was not what I expected in emergency. Power went off in kitchen Christmas morning in the middle of cooking breakfast. Just need to know where breaker was. Took and hour before I found it. They got back to me in an hour an a half. Could have been solved in minutes. Also did not supply enough TP, paper towels, garbage bags etc. most of all. Pictures deceiving in VRBO. Living space for six is not what is looks like. There is not enough seating for six in the living room. Kitchen is extremely small. One person fits at a time. I would not stay here again.
Recommend this Chamonix Retreat - it is within walking distance of Canyon Lodge. It was spacious and accommodated my family/group of 8, and had all the amenities that we needed.
Location to Mammoth mountain is excellent. Property is quite old and outdated. Internet and TV not reliable. Cleanliness was sub par. Parking easy and checking in not a problem.
Great location, waking distance to canyon lodge but I could not get ahold of the property manager through phone or email to get a missing key to the pool and recreation area. We were unable to use the hot tub which was a huge disappointment.
The Good: The unit was comfortable. Everyone loved the bidets in the bathrooms. Kitchen was appointed well...utensils, seasonings, oil, pots, pans, etc. Fireplace was solid, heating was easy. Location is great, at the bottom of the Canyon Lodge parking lot. However, it's a a hike if you're doing it with littles or people in ski boots.
The Bad:
We had to unload the dishwasher when we arrived. It's not that big of a deal, but with a very high cleaning fee (which is ridiculous btw) the unit should be ready to go. Washing machine didn't work. We didn't overload it per the instructions, but it was lame. Hot tub was hot, but jet controls were broken. Communication with the management company was terrible. They didn't respond for 72 hours. Wasn't really a big issue, but they were slow to respond throughout the booking process and while we stayed. We value and appreciate good communication. Apparently they don't.
Beyond their Control:
Parking was a total mess due to the snow. There just wasn't enough space. Also, each morning any open spots are snatched up by people going to ski/snowboard, so if you give up your spot in the morning, you won't get another spot until later in the day. The trash bins were completely buried. We sat on our trash until someone finally dug out the bins. We visited at the end of March. Be warned, the unit is completely buried by snow and it's like a tomb. There is zero natural light right now.
Condo was in a great location near Canyon Lodge and a short trip to the village. Tina was great to work with and helpful when needed. I highly recommend staying here.
Great condo with plenty of room for the six adults that stayed and room for more
Beautiful condo and location. We were able to walk to Canyon Lodge and enjoy the skiing and snowboarding. We were able to walk back for lunch and the remodeled kitchen was well equipped. We will stay again at this location during our next trip, thank you to the owners!
