Because Tenaya Lodge is a rural location guests should call the hotel if they need additional directions or information on how to get to the hotel. During winter months, chains may be necessary, even for four-wheel-drive vehicles.

Bears inhabit this area. Do not leave food or beverages (including water) in vehicles and heed all other warnings issued by the lodge.

Guests driving to the property should be aware of seasonal road closures. Hwy 120 (Tioga Pass) closes October through late June, restricting east-to-west travel across the park. Yosemite's eastern gate and Tuolumne Meadows are not accessible when Tioga Pass is closed. Guests are advised to check local weather and road conditions/closures with the California Department of Transportation before travel.

I enjoyed my stay, however in the evening when I was trying to sleep, there was dogs barking. It seems like owners just left them in the room by their self and some of the elevators smelt also like wet dog.

June 2025 This was our second time staying here, and we still loved our stay as much as the first- maybe even more. We stayed at the lodge and enjoyed the coffee shop, smores, pool and even the game room. The onsite restaurant was quite good for dinner. Our king room was very spacious, comfortable, and clean. My only negative is the food/ drinks( non alcoholic) were quite pricey. The Pizza place that is onsite but not directly at the lodge was very expensive and our rigatoni literally came out in a microwaveable type plastic tin. I mean at least take the extra step and put it on a plate and add a splash of parmigiana cheese to make it look like some effort was made. However this was my only true negative and I would absolutely stay here again. Little FYI, although you are only 2 miles from the entrance, it is still another hour to the valley floor. Do not try to enter the park after 9:30-10 or the line backs up even past the lodge and it will take 2 hours to enter.

Excellent stay

We really enjoyed our stay and had a wonderful overall experience. That said, there are a few areas where we think small improvements could make the experience even better: Explorer's Cabin Breakfast: It would be great to see a few more options included—perhaps fresh fruit cups, granola bars, or other light grab-and-go items. S’mores Sticks: Given the size of the fire pit, longer s’mores sticks would make roasting much easier and more comfortable. Happy Hour: Extending the happy hour by even 30 minutes (perhaps from 5:00 to 6:30 PM) would give guests a bit more time to unwind and enjoy. Gift Shop/Merchandise: A wider selection of merchandise would be a welcome addition—more apparel, souvenirs, or locally made items would be fun to browse and purchase. Again, we truly enjoyed our time and would happily return. These suggestions are just small ways to enhance an already great experience!
