We loved this place, it was great for our family. We stay in Mammoth multiple times a year and this is one if the best places we have stayed. I was impressed by how clean it was! Itâs amazing how cobwebs in the vaulted ceilings can be normal in this mountain town. None here! The updated bathroom/shower was great for warming up after a long day in the snow. The kids enjoyed the âhidoutâ. The kitchen had all the appliances and utensils you could need. Two downsides, the bunk room had a funny smell and the rental company was a bit difficult when we got snowed in. They found us another place, as this was was rented (although the road was closed both ways). However they charged a cleaning fee for both and the rate on the second, much older place was very high considering. They did concede a 5% credit card fee and let us stay for 1 night (there is usually a 2 night min). I just feel like they could have done better, given the circumstances.
The home was more than enough space for our family of four. Cozy living room, good heating, good water pressure in the showers, plenty of towels and extra blankets. Parking was steps to the home. if youâre a coffee drinker in the morning bring either Keurig coffee pods or filters for a 10-12 cup (round filters) coffee maker. Plenty of cups and dishes in the cupboards. Front door sticks a little and will need a good push to get in or a hard pull to open to get out but probably due to the weather and wood swelling. Very close to the Eagle Ridge lodge just minutes away.
Snow and ice was not cleared from the front door causing the door to be frozen shut. We called the property manager and she said to put your shoulder into the door. We were afraid we were going to break the door and waited for maintenance to come open it as we were convinced the lock was broken. After 30 minutes of being stuck outside we had our teenager climb over the 2nd story balcony and go through the sliding door that wasnât locked also due to snow not being cleared. He pulled on the door as I pushed and it broke free. I spent time chipping snow and ice off the threshold and the door worked perfectly the rest of our time there.
The hot water went freezing cold in the shower at 9pm. Only 1 guest had taken a shower and the hot water didnât work throughout the condo. The property manager was not available at this time of the night so we checked the water heater that was luckily unlocked. The water heater had an error code so we reset it and had hot water again.
The property manager was aware of both problems. They returned my call about the water heater at 10:15am the next day telling us to reset it. I feel like we would not have been inconvenienced with these problems after a full day of skiing if the management company properly cleared the doorways of snow and ice, and also serviced the water heater since they knew it was throwing error codes.
