Right off the bike trail.
The house is in a quiet neighborhood. Big back yard. Close to the Great Allegheny Passage in Meyersdale. It will be like your home away from home. It is pet friendly home. It also has parking for 2 cars.
Aunt Gertrude's House (perfectly named per another review) is an older home but super clean. Updated main bath and comfy beds. Excellent location on the GAP trail - Salisbury Viaduct, Big Savage Tunnel. In the off season not much is open in town or off the trail in the beginning of the week. We will be sure to stay again. Karen is a great host.
We were blessed to stay 5 nights in this absolutely adorable farm house when our cabin in Shenandoah was unavailable due to repairs. I was able to book this house with short notice and it did not disappoint. Even though the weather was less than perfect (rain most days, 45 mph wind gust on Halloween and wind chills that reached below freezing) we still packed in alot in the few days we were there. We rode the train on the Western MD Scenic Railroad from Cumberland to Frostburg at the peak of the fall colors. Took a 3 mile round trip hike to walk across the Salisbury Viaduct from the backyard, Climbed the 50 ft tower at Mt Davis (highest point in PA), visited Rocky Gap state park for a 5.3 mile hike around the lake, and took at 21 mile bike ride through the Big Savage Tunnel and back! My two working K9s had a blast on vacation as well! Just to note, the HUGE backyard is not fenced in. It's not a problem for police/hunting/farm/recal trained dogs but even I've had ding ding dogs in the past that would run off into the woods after a deer lol. So my only recommendation is keep a tracker on your dog. The hostess is fantastic as well and answered any questions I had.
This property is located at the top of a quiet neighborhood with a large open area behind the house that has its own opening to the Allegheny Passage. My husband felt like he was stepping back in time to his childhood home and when people say âcleanâ they are not exaggerating! Everything you need is in the house and our grandkids ( ages 2&3) had plenty of room and loved the trail! Going right on the trail takes you immediately thru a tunnel to the Meyersdale museum. Bringing our dog made it even better! There is more to Meyersdale than one would think! We encourage a visit to the Milroy Maple farm and Tall Pines Distillery about 10 minutes away.
Location was great. Very clean, if staying in the summer-there is only window units and it didnât stay cool. Owner did offer to bring another unit. Beds were ok but not super comfortable.
This property is really just off the trail. The owner is so nice and accommodating. Loved the bedrooms. Also liked that there were flyers for delivery since we were on bikes and had to come up a large hill to get to the property. Would love to stay here again if ever doing the Gap Trail again.
This is a nice old farmhouse with the Great Allegheny Passage trail right behind the property. We were pleasantly surprised to find thst the bed in the downstairs bedroom is a queen size and not a full as we were expecting. There is large yard with plenty of room to walk your dog. You can leave your bikes on the back porch or bring them inside. The only steps are if you use the front door. There isn't any a/c but we didnt need it in May. There are celling fans. We hope to return sometime.
Everything from start to finish was easy. The house was clean and roomy. Beds were comfortable. Bikes can be stored on the back porch. The trail is right behind the house. Easy access.
