At first the staff was excellent in every way. The historic nature of the property was outstanding. The area outside of the hotel suffering. The rooms were good and the issues with broken fixtures were brought to the staffs attention.

Worst hotel experience I’ve had in my travels. I checked in about 8:30 pm. I had booked a room with 2 queens for myself and my friends, who were arriving later. Upon arrival, no one was at the front desk, and staff walked out a few minutes later to check me in. He informed me they were out of rooms with 2 queens, but we could have 2 rooms with 1 king bed each. He gave me the door codes and pointed me to the rooms. I looked in both rooms, threw some snacks on one of the beds for my friends, and threw my stuff down and sat down for a minute in the other room. I was planning to go out for an event and some food, but staff knocked on my door just a few mins after I walked in and said he may have to relocate me to another room with 2 queens, he was figuring it out with his manager. I was understanding at first. He then returned and said that another guest reservation specifically wanted one of those 2 rooms, so he might have to relocate me to a completely different hotel, which I expressed my displeasure over. I had already ordered some food for delivery as well. Just before 10 pm, staff came to my room and said he had made a reservation for us at another hotel, and that we had to go there. He had removed my snacks from the other room, which there were now guests in. Staff refused to compensate me for my ride I needed to the new hotel, which was about 1.5 miles away by street. He did not offer any kind of compensation in any way, and I barely received an apology. 0/5, stay away.

The decor was neat, and loved the history. The gentleman that checked us in was great. But the rest of the stay was not. Yes, they have a ramp to an accessible room, BUT the breakfast of packaged hostess stuff and coffe was right across from our room and it was very hard to navigate. Very hard. The floor was really durty with dead bugs. We stayed in Feb so that was odd to us. Sadly I cannot recommended this place.

Although this hotel did not have all the amenities of a corporate hotel, the bed was super comfortable, it had rich history, and the staff was personable and helpful. The bathroom was above average in cleanliness and totally modern. The surrounding area was historic as well. I found an adorable bodega that had everything I needed a couple blocks away. Also, we had a delicious meal at the Red Rooster, which was very close. Dunns Josephine provided very quiet, quality accommodations that I hope to enjoy again soon. Convenient to airport.

A historic property that needs better management
We really wanted to like and support this hotel given its historic past and funky vibe. The points we liked were its location close to downtown, walking distance to the Metro and cheap Uber fares to Brickell, etc. The staff was friendly, the towels were fluffy and the bed was very comfortable. The dedicated parking is free but it's in a public lot that's not well lit. The room is very simple and fairly ugly (new paint would help). We had to ask 3 times for extra T.P. One of the windows could not close which allowed crawling bugs to enter to the point we had to ask to have an exterminator come and spray. There was no drinking glass in the bathroom. There is no daily service to make beds or change towels; it would have been good to know that.
