In the picturesque Oltrepò Pavese, affectionately known as “the Tuscany of the North,” an enchanting landscape unfolds. Nestled in the hills, 50 km south of Milan and near historic Pavia, this region shines like a jewel just 1,100 km from Amsterdam. It’s incredibly accessible, whether by car or plane. But Oltrepò Pavese is more than just a wine region; it’s a gateway to unparalleled beauty in the heart of Northern Italy.
Ancient towns, ski resorts, and the flower-filled Mediterranean Riviera are within easy reach, just an hour’s drive away via the majestic autostrada. After two successful years of sharing exquisite wines with the Netherlands, we decided to take the next step: to create a home in this idyllic landscape. By chance, we stumbled upon “our home in Italy,” a hidden gem with breathtaking views of the Alps, surrounded by the charm of an authentic Italian village featuring the charming castle of “Mornico Losana.”
A short seven-minute drive takes you to a wide array of shops and restaurants, whose prices require a genuine effort to be considered expensive. Nestled amid vast vineyards, our villa, named “Monte Rosa,” offers an oasis of tranquility and comfort. With four lavish bedrooms, two bathrooms—one featuring an inviting bathtub—equipped with window screens and refreshing air conditioning, this villa exudes luxury.
The spacious kitchen-diner invites you to embark on culinary adventures, while the cozy living room with a crackling fire offers a warm welcome. Downstairs, in the spacious cantina with a TV and comfortable lounge sofa, cozy moments are made. Outside, several terraces stretch out—some bathed in sunlight, others tucked away in the shade—along with a large barbecue. The spacious 5-by-10-meter pool, with a maximum depth of 1.40 meters, adds a touch of luxury, surrounded by comfortable lounge chairs and tasteful patio furniture.
As the icing on the cake, we offer complimentary wine throughout your stay—in white, rosé, and red varieties—provided by Matteo Piccinini, who is not only our regular supplier but also your gracious host.
This is truly a top destination, steeped in tranquility, space, and authentic Italy—far removed from the hustle and bustle.
