The hotel is situated in a quiet area close to a mall and other amenities. Downtown Ottawa is a short car ride away, which makes the location very convenient. The free on-site parking is a huge bonus. The room was clean and spacious enough for us. The breakfast offers various options, although it would be great to have non-dairy milk for coffee. It was great to use the coin laundry, although we had to pay twice to dry our clothes properly. I was disappointed with the gym, though. Both treadmills and one of the ellipticals were broken, which made it difficult for me to do my runs at night. The floor under the treadmill and the baseboards need to be cleaned.

The room was a good size very comfortable for four people to move around in. It was clean and well organized. We had to use the pull-out sofa bed, so it was disappointing when there were no sheets available without asking. And also disappointing that the housekeeping staff didn't make the bed. We also had to ask for extra towels and pillows to accommodate the four people that were booked to stay in the room. Giving we planned and booked for four people, I was surprised that I had to ask for extra Linens and towels and pillows.

Reported cracked toilet bowl in several places and chipped bathtub. Maintenance man came and tightened the toilet seat and said toilet needed replacement but was not done. Front desk said “ no rooms available” and e-mail the manager. I did and received a reply yesterday stating no refund since room booking was through 3rd party. Offered a discount only at this hotel which we will never go to. Booking was to attend a funeral.

The room was clean. Loved that there was no carpet in the room. The pool was clean and refreshing, and had nice showers. The breakfast was phenomenal with pancakes, eggs, sausage, bacon, muffins, pastries, bagels, fruits, cereal, yogurt, juices, coffee, tea, and hot chocolate.

I usually go for a more upscale overnight but the Holiday Inn Express exceeded my expectations. The bedroom was large, the room very clean, nice linens and very nice toiletries. The staff was very pleasant and the included breakfast was the equal of many costing $17 - $20 - albeit, they would most likely have cutlery and dishware.
