This property was expensive but thought it would be fun to stay in a converted prison. The staff was fine, the room was nicely appointed, and clean. The problem with this hotel is there is no air conditioning and the windows are sealed but in a few rooms. We were given the Coope room on the first floor off of reception and it was sweltering. After not sleeping the first night, we reported the problem to the staff and asked to move rooms. They couldn’t accommodate us, but provided a fan. We went out for the day sightseeing and returned to the room to find it had been cleaned but the maid had left all the lights on...so stuffy and hot. The air control in the room was set to coldest setting and on high, but barely puffed out of the vents and again no cooled air, not sure why they have a pretend thermostat. We had to open the door to the room and put the fan in the door to pull cool air from the hall. This worked, but anyone walking down the hall could see into the room. We went out again for dinner and came back to hot room. We ended up putting the fan back into the doorway and spending the night with the door open to the hall. Absolutely ridiculous, we didn’t sleep keeping one eye on the door!
