Despite pleasant and welcoming staff, I was stunned to have my booking downgraded from deluxe double room to a standard one. I paid for a deluxe and want to be reimbursed for the difference!

I checked into The New Hotel Gare du Nord on 25 June 2023. This hotel is directly across the street from The Gare du Nord train station. This hotel is in an old building. It has a very small lift and an old spiral wooden staircase. My room was on the 6th floor (room 639) The room was small, it had a comfortable foam bed, TV, private toilet and shower. I could look out my window and see the Gare du Nord train station and the people coming in and out. I kept the windows open because I liked the fresh air, though it could be a bit noisy due to the activity all night at the train station. I didn’t mind it though. Breakfast is NOT included with the room. The hotel does serve breakfast in the restaurant in the basement. I ate there every morning while I stayed in the hotel. They served boiled eggs, baguettes, croissants, butter, jellies, some deli meats such as ham, orange juice and coffee (about 8 Euros). The staff in the restaurant and at the front desk were very friendly and helpful. The front desk provided a local map of Paris and the metro. Whatever tourist spots you were looking for, he would circle where the hotel was and show you how to get where you wanted to go. The hotel is located in an area where there are plenty of restaurants to choose from as well as a few places to eat in the train station. I was by myself and winging it as a tourist. I didn’t need anything fancy and was on a budget as well. The New Hotel Gare du Nord was perfect for me. I would stay there again.

Very friendly staff, specially Ben and Sami who are very attentive at the Front Desk. I have stayed several times over the years and I am happy to see them every time I stay. The dining room is varied and delicious. I will continue staying here every time I go to Paris.

Plus: Nice receptionist, clean room, location, has elevator.
Minus: you are supposed to hand in room key when you leave the hotel, there are still a few stairs after you exit the elevator (staff most likely would help with luggage though)

Easy check in. Polite staff. Small elevator which still involves a few steps to get to room level. Just across the train station. Easy access to subway and buses. Restaurants nearby. Safety might be an issue in the area. Room key expected to be left at counter when going out. Pick-pocketers in plain sight on subways on our way back to station nearest hotel. Rooms are decent with good toilet facility. Air conditioning was a blessing in the summer heat.

Location is everything
Pros:Location to the train station and easy access to Charles De Gaul. Local reseraunts were good and better priced than the tourist areas. Fairly quite
Cons:No refrigerator. Gave deposit for a kettle to boil water. Mildew in the shower. Did not use the breakfast but appeared to be overpriced.
Location:Close to a major train station so could get anywhere in Paris in less than an hour. Use the weekly metro pass that runs from Mon - Sun.
Spent a week in Paris as a family. Room was ok. The beds were fine but very small. Fairly big variation in the price depending on how far out you book. You don't think you get that much for your money but in relation to other hotels probably fairly priced. Could ot have had a better location if you want to use the trains and metro to get around Paris and then end the evening with a nice meal.
