Nestled in a delightful, tranquil valley a few minutes from the delightful village of Valdottavo and 20 minutes drive from the elegant and medieval city of Lucca, Villa Rosa is a 200 year old Liberty villa that will exceed all expectations. There are 5 spacious double bedrooms with 3 bathrooms (one ensuite) - all the bedrooms have fantastic light and views across the valley, with high beamed ceilings, cotto floors and traditional shutters. Four of the bedrooms have beautifully comfortable Super King double beds and in the fifth bedroom there are 2 single beds and 1 child's bed. The master bedroom boasts a lovely little terrace, where you can enjoy wonderful views across the valley whilst sipping your espresso...or something stronger!
On the ground floor, there is a double reception room and a separate fully equipped kitchen/dining area that easily seats 10. These beautiful rooms have 3m high ceilings with original beams and cotto floors. The reception rooms have seating around a lovely fireplace and a separate area for TV and games. Both the reception rooms and kitchen have French doors leading out to the garden and pool where you will also find a BBQ area and undercover seating for 10 people. The pool itself is 11m x 5m and there are ample sun loungers to enjoy the wonderful tranquil views of the hills and beautiful villages nearby.

Wonderful!
We had an absolutely magical two weeks at Villa Rosa. The property was everything we expected from a true Italian Villa, authentic yet accommodating modern needs. The property is beautifully kept with a wonderful view, and the pool was lovely and so welcome during the heatwave. The owner, Charlie, was quick to respond to any concerns and very accommodating. The location is great, being close to Lucca (which we loved), as well as Firenze, Pisa and the beach. Our entire family from teens to grandma loved every minute. We can't wait return. I highly recommend a stay at Villa Rosa.

A beautiful home
We had a wonderful stay at this villa in a very tranquille area. The bedrooms and bathrooms with the high ceilings are beautiful, decoration fits the style. We had good times at the pool, only there were a lot of mosquitos around and in the pool . The road up is a little challenge, but the tricky part is only 500 m, so ok. You are very close to Lucca, Pisa, Firenze and the seaside so ample things to do. Also closer to the house there are little villages, as Barga. You can also make a nice walk around the villla and enjoy the beautiful scenary of the Luccian hills!

Fantastic Villa - Ideal for a family holiday
We staying at the villa for 2 weeks towards the end of August 2019. We had 3 couples and 3 children including a 6 month old. The villa is nice and spacious with a big kitchen, good living room and good size bedrooms. The pool is a good size with a garden area to play other activities and the terrace area is a good size to relax. They have everything you need from enough sun loungers to every utensil you can think of making cooking nice and easy. We say a few comments regarding the drive up the hill to the villa. It is correct you can only fit one car on the road at a time, it’s tight with a few hairpin corners. However it’s really not that bad as long as you aren’t silly. If another car comes there are areas to pull in and most of the time it’s the locals who are used to the situation. We had an Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV and were fine. It’s worth it for the views from the Villa. The location is good with a local supermarket 15 mins down the road. We drove to Lucca, Pisa and Florence for half day trips. The only downside of the whole holiday was the mosquitoes (not the villas fault) so just take lots of spray, candles and plug-ins. We would definitely visit again!

Highly recommend Villa Rosa !! Beautiful villa surrounded in breathtaking views !!
Villa Rosa has been lovingly restored, decorated and furnished by it's owners, and it was such a delight to be able to stay in it !! Have read in a prior review, but must reinforce the statement that the pictures do not do it justice. The villa was so comfortable, we were two families with 6 children between us, ranging from 15 to 24, and there was ample space for us all. The kitchen was fantastic, with it's big table and every utensil you will ever need !! The pool and outside area was amazing, we loved sitting and chatting under the gazebo at night. It was a perfect villa in a perfect location for exploring the delights of Tuscany. All in all, a perfect holiday from which we did not want to return !!

Fantastic villa for familiy fun!
We (two families with five kids between us) had a fantastic stay in Villa Rosa. It is clean, spacious and well equipped. You can tell the owner uses the villa regularly as everything seems to be thought through to make your holiday relaxing. The villa has a fantastic pool which had plenty of room for all nine of us, even after the kids had filled it with about 8 inflatables! We really enjoyed barbecuing and sitting out in the warm evenings. We easily filled our week with lots of great activities: we had a couple of day trips to Lucca and Pisa, did lots of cycling in the Apuane Alps, went canyoning (Parco Del Battiferro), visited the caves (Grotta Del Vento) and played in the pool (some more!). We ate well (twice) at Molin Della Volpe, about 10 minutes drive over the top of the hill. We all had a fantastic time and would thoroughly recommend Villa Rosa. We hope to return one day.

Just back from our stay at Villa Rosa, where the whole family had shared a wonderful holiday. The villa has everything needed for a great stay, and is in a beautiful location. The road up to the Villa is steep and narrow (so as mentioned in other reviews get a decent hire car) but it's worth the drive. It is quite secluded (which is what we wanted) but close enough to Pisa and Lucca and other places to visit to make the drive bearable. It's nicely decorated, and all amenities have been thought of. Charlie, the host, was very quick to respond to questions. Would happily stay again.

Characterful - amply furnished - plenty of space. Many chandeliers! Great pool and outside seating.
We are two families with two teenagers in each family. Plenty of space for people to spread out. A well stocked kitchen in terms of crockery and glasses - great to have the two fridges to stock up since we cooked in house the 10 days we were there. The water cooler was a real bonus since the weather was very hot throughout our stay. Kids really enjoyed the pool each day and adults appreciated the seating area under the terrace - we ate here each night - lighting was well placed for night time dining. The road up to the property was rather tricky and we would say only for slim cars and a very confident driver - that said, the locals were good at tooting their horns to warn us that they were on the road as they approached blind corners. Lucca was a fabulous town to visit - we went their several times and enjoyed cycling (on a four person bike) around the walls on two occasions!. Ventured into Florence on the train from Lucca - trains no not always run to time, as we discovered on our return home (had to wait another half hour at the station because our train was running late for it's connection. All in all, a wonderful stay.

Perfect holiday
We stayed at this fabulous home from home for a week at the end of July and fell totally in love with it. The house is stunning and beautifully furnished (the beds were huge and very comfortable) and the kitchan had everything you could possibly need and more. The pool was spotlessly clean and the shaded area next to the house was a lovely place to eat, drink and chat/play games until the early hours. The road leading up to the house is 'challenging' and this is a rural property but this means there are wonderful views and lovely walks (although it was too hot for too much activity)! Charlie was incredibly helpful before, during and after our stay and all four adults and 3 children who stayed here didn't want to leave.

Well equipped, beautifully furnished, traditional Tuscan villa with large pool.
Tucked away in the Tuscan hills, with lovely views. You will definitely need a car. The beautiful town of Lucca being 20min drive away. Everything you could possibly need provided at the villa, including beach towels, water cooler, hairdryers, wifi and plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Large comfortable beds, with all cotton bedding. A great two week holiday with party of eight, from 17yrs to 75yrs! Would definitely recommend.

What a great villa at a wonderful location!
We had a lovely time with our family and friends. Villa Rosa is a great and wonderful house at a beautiful location in the hills close to Luca. Lots of things to do. A very friendly host. We can recommend this villa!
