This spacious vacation apartment with ambience welcomes you to the remote, medieval village of Monticchiello in the Val d'Orcia.



The stone house welcomes you with character and charm and is a feel-good place where you can spend a sociable and varied time with your family. The accommodation is authentic, rustic and cozy and exudes a warm atmosphere. Make yourself comfortable by the fireplace on chilly evenings and enjoy long, balmy summer evenings on the terrace. The balcony is the perfect place for the first coffee of the day.



You will spend your vacation in the charming, little-known town of Monticchiello in the heart of the Val d'Orcia, the part of Tuscany that has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its natural beauty. In addition to its picturesque alleyways steeped in history, beautiful natural scenery and fascinating sunsets, the hamlet is also home to a special theatrical tradition known as the "poor theater", which transforms the village into an open-air stage every summer. For day trips, we recommend Lake Trasimeno.

The title of this rental says it all. The apartment and views were absolutely stunning. It was spacious, clean, and very comfortable for our party of five. Lorenzo’s is friendly and a great host with very good communication, responds quickly to messages and gives great directions. Thank you Lory! We really loved our stay there and plan to be back.

A wonderful stay in Monticchiello

The property was clean, convenient , and as described. It was nicely decorated and the kitchen was fully functional. Lorenzo, the property manager, was very responsive to our questions ( he always responded within minutes). It was the perfect base for 2 weeks in Tuscany. The area is charming with many small villages within a 30 minute drive. An added plus was parking at the property and not on the outside of the wall. There is a small grocer (alimentari) right outside the wall. I highly recommend this property!

Just gorgeous.

The city is amazing. Playground, food, manicured walk around the curtain wall, and amazing sunset views. The house had dedicated parking and was expansive and comfortable. The hosts were responsive and very helpful.

It's the Little Details...

This large apartment was incredibly beautiful in so many ways. The owners have done an incredible renovation to modernize the experience without sacrificing the charm you hope to experience in this ancient town. it was clean and the linens were top notch. I think I'll install a towel warmer at home after experiencing this luxury. My only advice to future renters is to make sure you arrive at a time where the owner can meet you in person. There are nuances about appliances, lights, power, etc. that you should be fully explained. I pushed for an early arrival and the owner was not able to meet me. I erred in not making sure my arrival timed well with a good overview of the property. Also note, this is a small town with narrow streets. There is, thankfully, a parking place in front of the apartment but it's a tight squeeze. Renting bigger car not always better if you're visiting the old beautiful towns. We were able to get reservations to LaPorta - one of two Michelin star restaurants in Monticchiello - on a moments notice. Probably because we are hear during winter/off season. We loved having coffee, lunch, wine at a small shop run by a lovely Italian man who spoke fluent English. We also met a lovely man at the visitor center who convinced us he was Santa Claus. All in all, our time here was all we had hoped it would be.
