Beachview, Two Kitchens, Fire Pit ~ Anchored Inn
If youâre not as familiar with St. Joe Beach as you are with some of the other North Florida Beaches, then now is the time to get acquainted. St. Joe Beach is a laid back strip of beach less than 5 miles, tucked between Mexico Beach and Port St. Joe. The quiet shoreline of white sandy beaches is protected by Cape San Blas peninsula making it ideal for vacationing families. What also makes St. Joe Beach special is that it is a pet friendly beach. While dogs arenât allowed on Mexico Beach, you can stay minutes down the road and let your four-legged companion join in on the fun.
Anchored Inn is located just a short walk from the beach and has great views of the water from the large deck. If you do decide to bring your dog, or children lol, the owners have taken the worry out for you with a retractable gate on the top floor deck. This is where you will find a bistro table for your morning coffee, and the large picnic table for evening meals. Also outside, there is a great outdoor shower tucked away under the exterior stairs, a ground floor patio, a single car garage and a fire pit in the fenced in backyard.
Anchored Inn has a unique layout as it has separate, full accommodations on the ground floor as well as upstairs. So, if you are looking for some privacy during your stay but have to bring the rest of your family along too thereâs a distinct separation between the two floors. Both levels have their own kitchen, dining and living areas with one bedroom on the ground floor and the remaining three upstairs.
Floor Plan: Ground level â single car garage, outdoor shower, patio, eat-in kitchen, living room with TV, 2 twins bunked and a sleeper sofa; and Bedroom 1 â ground floor master bedroom with king bed, TV and full bath with a shower only. 1st floor â large gulf view deck with picnic and bistro table, living room with TV, kitchen, dining area, full bath with shower/tub combo; Bedroom 2 â double bed and TV, Bedroom 3 â queen bed and TV; and Bedroom 4 â master bedroom with king bed, gulf view deck access, TV and master bath with double vanities, shower only and walk-in closet.

We love staying at Anchored Inn. The house is beautiful and comfortable. Pet friendly matters to our family and this beach house is perfect. The gate on the deck gives us peace of mind and the fenced yard is perfect. We have stayed here the past two years and plan to be back next year.
Beautiful and great location. The house was perfect for a college reunion of ladies. Having the downstairs as separate from the upstairs was actually great- we used the downstairs bunks for daytime naps for those who wanted some quiet time.
Great for a Large Family, Close to the Beach, & Dog-Friendly
Overall, this was a lovely place to stay and had pretty much everything we were looking for in a rental. It is so close to the beach (2 minute walk max) and the actual beach was so private (other people were so far off in the distance on either side of us every time we went to the beach). Our party consisted of 5 adults and 2 kids (under 5). This property was great! One couple stayed in the downstairs area. One adult was in the first bedroom upstairs, the 2nd couple was in the master upstairs, and the kids were in the additional bedroom upstairs. We also brought 3 dogs with us.
This property does have a fenced-in backyard. The pictures do not include it (I would recommend adding pictures of the fence), but it does have one. My only problem was that there was no way to get to the fenced-in backyard from the main house (the upstairs portion). The upstairs and downstairs are also not connected at all (on the inside). I was staying with the 3 dogs upstairs and there was no way for me to just open a door or walk downstairs directly to the fenced-in yard. I had to walk them out the front door, through the (unfenced) front yard, and open the gate to the fence every time I wanted to let them out. I would recommend that if you bring a dog, stay in the downstairs area (which has a door to the fenced-in yard). We did also have an issue with wasp nests. There were a total of 12 nests that my brother-in-law ended up (safely) disposing of, but not before my dad got stung by one.
Another thing that I wish I had was some kind of lamp in the first bedroom upstairs (only had overhead lighting) and some kind of shelving or dresser (I used the bathroom closet to unpack my clothes). Otherwise, everything was great!
