The Isola delle Correnti and Carratois beach in Siracusano are the last southern tip of Sicily, the southernmost tip of Italy, because the rounded island is connected to Carratois beach by a thin strip of land , which in low tide days makes it a real peninsula.
Outside the traditional routes of mass tourism, it is exposed to the four winds and its banks are not so difficult to gain since the depth of the water does not exceed one and a half meters. On the rocky surface of the island dominates the old structure of the lighthouse now in disuse together with a few houses, between the scarce vegetation consisting of wild leek, capers and bushes of Mediterranean scrub and the numerous seagulls that appreciate it as a resting place.
The beaches of Portopalo continue north-east, up to the island of Capo Passero which faces the coast, which has always been a privileged point of observation of the coast. The Fortress of Charles V stands in fact on the highest part of the island, built during the Swabian-Aragonese period to spot any Saracen ships that approached the earth. The lighthouse tower emerges from one of the four corner towers.
Access to the sea caves of karst origin, such as the Grotte del Polipo, which can be visited by boat around the island, can be distinguished in the slightly higher sections of the cliff. The seabed around the volcanic rock lends itself to underwater exploration, as well as the submerged cavities of the Bathsheba Cave and the Emphasis Cave.
Punta delle Formiche in Carratois beach is made up of a curiously shaped tip of sandstone, flanked by a strip of beach with very fine sand set among white rocks and a cobalt-colored crystalline sea. From here you can admire a splendid panorama, especially at sunset, which also embraces the Isola delle Correnti. It is in fact located between the Amber Coast and the Isola delle Correnti, and is accessible from an internal road even if you get there more easily by sea. It is said that the name "Punta delle Formiche" is due to the particular arrangement of the rocks that extend from the mainland towards the sea gradually decreasing in size, as if to form a small column of ants.
The single-family house is located in an "oriented natural reserve" on an independent lot with direct access to the beautiful Carratois beach and spectacular views of the beach and the Isola delle Correnti; it enjoys excellent cooling and natural ventilation thanks to its direct position on the sea.
The house has a private internal parking and a garden with a large organized veranda with lounge and dining area, barbecue and shower outside the house in the laundry room.
