Staff was fantastic—welcoming from the moment you arrive, and you’re handed a drink right at check-in. Excursions were great; book with Wendy for a good deal. The pool was right across from my room and the beach was just a short walk away, which was very convenient. The room was beautiful, but the A/C vents were extremely dusty and appeared not to have been cleaned in months. By day 4, I developed a runny nose and cough. The gym was okay, but I would’ve preferred 24-hour access and more space. Food was hit or miss. The snack bar and the à la carte Mexican restaurant were great, but the other restaurants were only okay and we experienced food poisoning. Important note: If you’re 21+ and don’t speak Spanish fluently, avoid the clubs. The DJ plays mostly Spanish music and staff gets annoyed when anything else is requested. Also, skip the disco lounge unless you’re okay with heavy cigar/hookah smells. Good location and amazing staff, but cleanliness, food, and nightlife need improvement.

En general se pasa bien y es tranquilo. Los chicos que atienden en el buffet y rest son buenos sobre todo Luis muy atento y servicial. En la barra hay un empleado prepotente entiendo es un supervisor. Con respecto a las habitaciones necesitan remodelación el baño se tapaba la bañera y se reportó aun asi se continuó tapando. Hubo un día que no nos pusieron toallas y se pidieron en tres ocasiones y no llegaron. Se demoró. No nos pusieron frisas para arroparnos del frio, se tuvieron que pedir. La piscina debe tener calentador para invierno ya que el agua estaba muy fria. El baño de la piscina siempre estuvo mojado por gotera. Se entiende q por ser el baño de la piscina va a estar mojado pero, lo de la gotera y el charco no es aceptable. Entiendo que en los restaurantes deben haber mas empleados. Se demoraban mucho.

Where do I begin to express my delight at finding this beautiful resort at the suggestion of a friend the day before I arrived. I found the beautiful king size bed too hard for me, but I slept on the futon quite comfortably, and the housekeeping noticed and continued to make up that bed for me instead. The mediterránean and Brazilian dinners were excellent, and all meals were quite enjoyable. Staff were so friendly and very helpful. Even calling to check on me after I had arrived in my room to see if everything was all right. The decir is a little bit dated, but does not attract from the enjoyment of this lovely resort. It actually reminds me of a Grand Bahia Principe I stayed at last winter! I will definitely recommend Marien to my friends, and hopefully be back someday myself. Muchas gracias!
