The Barcelo' was a run down All Inclusive. Look hard when viewing the beach area. There is a marginal one at best. It is a cove and marina combined. Yes you are swimming with a roped off area next to boat motors. The guests that entered the water and came to shore all suffered bug bites, similar to swimmers itch. Room had limited towel service. Our hotel floor #3 had the fire alarms go off three nights in a row. We were told multiple times they were testing, (me-retired firefighter) no testing is done at 10pm at night especially in a hotel. The final night we insisted a manager come with maintenance to check it out. Conclusion NO working alarm system, it was taped to the wall. If a true fire were to happen no one even knew the alarms were even going off to alert a fire department. Food and drinks only okay. If you do not upgrade to premium room package you have limited reservation times for dinner. Also you are only allowed 3 restaurant reservations for a week vacation. The rest of the meals are done in the buffet. Drinks watered down, even morning juices. Again only upgraded room got you better alcohol. Only positive the staff was very friendly. If you are looking for a destination beach vacation this will be a very disappointing unsafe choice for all Inclusive.

My family and I stayed here for 6 nights. The staff was very friendly; however, there were many issues that occurred. They say that the ice and water are filtered, but many family members felt sick during our vacation. Perhaps it was the horrible food served in the buffet, snack bar, and specialty restaurants. The drinks were fine, and the pool was nice. There were a few things broken or not working in my or a family member's room. We would call the front desk for water, toilet paper, etc, and sometimes it would never come or we would have to call multiple times. We used the 24-hour room service (you have to pay for it), called and ordered, but the food never came. The only 5 stars I would give would be to the ladies in the spa; the massage was the best part of our vacation. We all were ready to leave when it should have been the opposite.

As far as I’m concerned the ppl servers were amazing, friendly, and personal, the property down graded my reservation to a lower room ac wasn’t working properly the food was at best dull and mundane, for the amount of foreign visters a better selection should be available. I myself would book some place different as I did in February. Remember the service workers are absolutely great especially the bar pool staff hats off to them each and every day we were there. Front desk and management didn’t care or so how I felt

The food at the restaurants is just average and the buffet is below average. Room service was great and the food much better. Premium level didnt live up to the extra price. The resort is very loud overall if you are wanting a quieter relaxing vacation. The music rather poolside or the cantina can be extremely loud at times. The live misic that plays from 10:30-11:30pm was terrible id you wete trying to sleep or sit on the balcony. There was 2 weddings the week we were there and the loud latin music played was deafening to the rest if the resort guests. Our 2 credit cards only used at the gift shop were both hacked with several thousand dollars fraudulently charge. There were several questionable things that happened while we stayed at this resort for a week. I had high expectations after the reviews of this resort but our stay didnt live up to what others reviewed.

This is a beautiful resort. We’ve been coming off & on for 40 years. Lots of changes, not all for the best. Most of the staff barely spoke English. When we checked out they didn’t even ask how our stay was, guess they don’t care. The biggest disappoint- they took down the American flag. We won’t be going back!

The main dining area "Le Fuente" was excellent service. although the selection was massive he food was average at best. Most was bland and overcooked. Los Arcos snack area was a complete disappointment. The service staff was non attentive, the kitchen was a disaster. The food was terrible...7/11 quality and 1 went 3x...every time the food was wrong from missing chicken, bacon, mayo, etc...they cooks just don't care at all. A La Carte is the 3rd option. its beyond laughable. Cut up unheated hotdogs and plain hamburgers? Then there is the bars....you are keeping your draft selections out in the heat without any refrigeration? How this place is 4-5 star is beyond me. I have traveled a lot and this was a disappointment. The resort is beautiful and obviously they know how to train staff because the service in the main buffet was exceptional. But every where else was abysmal.this is an obvious failure of ownership and management.

The fountains weren’t working for most of our trip. Just disappointing. I kept complaining and was told tomorrow. Ha. It was actually comical. The food was average and seemed there was always room at the specialty restaurants. The drinks were good but the swim up bar was overcrowded a lot. House keeping was good and they kept up on the minibar. The room was excellent, big and the a/c worked flawlessly. Watch out for the sand fleas as they kicked out butts. lol.

It was nice. I like that this time we were not pressured to buy time shares. In general terms, workers were friendly and the environment was family friendly. Some recommendations I would give: * it could be cleaner. Changing the bedding more often and putting more attention to details would give a better impression. * the shows in the theater were good, but I would recommend to include a nice show on Fridays. * I feel that the reservations for restaurants were really limited. We were not able to try some restaurants we really wanted to see. * I feel that the available personnel serving was limited for the amount of customers. More servers would increase the customer satisfaction.
