The resort is located in a convenient spot. It has two nice pools and beach access. The restaurants requiring reservations had decent food as did the coffee bar. The buffet left a lot to be desired. It's food was very subpar. Staff at resort was wonderful! Super kind and helpful. This is a decent resort to stay at if you are vacationing on a budget. A good value for the price. Did wish that the room had a frig.

Stay away!

Pros: Nothing
My friend and I had a terrible experience at this "resort" and will never return. We knew had chosen a budget friendly option but were extremely disappointed when the hotel looked nothing like the beautiful photos on Travelocity's website. Do not trust these photos! They should be removed from the site. The hotel was falling apart and dirty. Our room did not have any blankets on the bed, the pillows were old and lumpy, the phone did not work, and there was no remote for the TV. When we went down to the pool bar we saw the staff re-using cups without actually washing them. The food was terrible. They said we could pay extra and stay at the sister resort next door. We walked over and were also disappointed. The hotel would not give us anymoney back nor would Travelocity. We decided to cut our loses and went to a much nicer resort near the airport. If you are looking for good food, drinks, and a fun vacation, pay the extra money and book somewhere else.

Nice hotel, great staff and location

The hotel is a little gem. Small but clean and great service. Not luxurious but food was good, rooms were comfortable and staff was great. Many activities to choose from and a quick cab ride from the airport or town.

Our second visit

Pros: Location is good. Staff is excellent. Comfortable atmosphere.
Cons: Variety of foods & flavor.
Location: Shopping, malls and downtown is only a short ride down the road. Local restaurants.
This was our second time visiting. The friendly staff remembered us and made us feel right at home. The rooms are plain but clean. The facilities and pools are well kept. Lots of activities for all ages during the day and activities/shows at night. The activities staff are a blast! There is a variety of foods and snack bars but it could be improved on. Located near shopping and local restaurants either by foot or local transportation. The beach is small but very clean. This is not ritzy but you will feel comfortable and enjoy your stay. We feel like we get more than our moneys worth. We will return again!

Fantastic 15 day frolic with new made friends!!!

My husband I loved our 15 day stay at the Pelicanos Grand!! We made so many new friends on our stay which we are still in contact with to date. Vacationed 1 year ago...and cant wait to return!! The staff couldnt have been any more helpful friendly the food was good...not excellent but very good for the money. A short cab or bus ride to the city was nice to enable us to enjoy some of the local restarurants and sites! This hotel is on a smaller scale which we enjoyed...no golf cart or mini bus rides to get around the property!

Very Cool Stay!

From the moment we arrived the staff was amazing! While waiting at the front desk to check in we were offered pina colada's, got offered a room of our choice and were escourted (bags in tow) to our room. The room was basic, big bed, night stands separate bathroom and sink, very basic but for the cost i could see the value in what we got. The bathroom is small the tub/shower was a half tub but still very comfortable. The all inclusive made it worth the while the food was pretty good, we were given passes to their Italian restaurant on the other side fo the propery no extra charge and we had nightly entertainment on the property at no charge from karaoke, to Lantin Nights dancing to a variety show! A lot of fun for the amount of money we paid. The resort also offers a lot of activities both for family and individual from jet skiing to parasailing to other tours they offer, and reasonably priced (in US currently from 30-50 dollars per person). It is located between the airport and the romantic zone of downtown Puerto Vallarta so be prepared for a walk or short bus or cab ride. Would definitely stay again but upgrade to the club or members section of the resort! Would be well worth the extra money. Go stay and have a wonderful time!

Nice place I would stay again.

I spent 10 days there, the hotel staff was friendly and accomadating. Rooms were clean we were up on the 2nd floor with a balcony overlooking the ocean. The infinity pool was fantastic. The hot tubs were not working very well and were not that clean. They had an internet room where one can check email and send email but who needs a computer that much when you are vacationing? I would get the all inclusive if and when I go again. Food at the hotel was good.

YUCK! YUCK! YUCK!

If you don't mind employees coming into your room at any timne of the day or night then you might feel at home. When you complain at the front desk they act like you are crazy. Us???? We wopuldn't do that??? Even had employees taking pictures of us. That adjacent room is also where they would ebter un-announced. Make sure your valuables are in the safe! Get use to eating the same food every meal as they sure don't dispose of left overs. You just get them in the next meal even if it means mixing it in with other food. Staff is very rude and they don't keep the locals out of the resort. They are right on the site trying to srll you anything???? Not clean at all. If you are on a budget and don't have too many valuables then it's a way to go. But I would not recommend it to even my enemies! The newer section is the worst. Stay somewhere else. It will save you the vacation from hell!

Good times and a great pool for what you pay!

For 2 mid-20 year olds this place was great! We went into it reading some mixed reviews but in the end it was about what we expected for a 3-4 star hotel. The food was just fine, breakfast is the best, but it did get old as it's pretty much the same every day. the pool area was great but the service was contingent upon tipping and make sure you stay in the GRAND section (section 2) as it is worth the extra money that you spend! the club side isn't oceanfront and doesn't have balconies and i didn't hear a single good thing about it...and armed guards at the doors of the club section is never a good sign! the beach is bad but you can swim and kayak in the ocean right by the hotel and it's very nice. the rooms are your standard hotel rooms but no screen doors on the balconies which allowed a lot of bugs to come in. the safe was nice to have although not secured to a permanent foundation and the water pressure wasn't great but the TV had great stations and english options and the air conditioner was a life saver. the grounds are well kept and there is daily pool side entertainmet. Sergio is a great time but i do wish the daily activites would have been switched up a little. The stores across the street from the hotel were godo for getting h2o and snacks for the room! While you're there, do the Canopy Tour and make sure you go to the taco stand across the street on the main road. it has a red canopy and wooden stools around it and their quesadillas and tacos are SO GOOD and they are cheap!
