I never received the VIP drink perk included in my reservation, and the hotel really needs an elevator—lugging bags up and down stairs was tough. I arrived early and was told check-in wasn’t possible until 3pm, so I had to carry my bags around the city all day. When I came back after 10pm, tired and frustrated, the older gentleman at the desk was incredibly kind and professional. He truly represented the warm hospitality Costa Rica is known for.
In contrast, the younger front desk employee the next morning watched me struggle with my bags (only a lovely cleaning lady helped once) and even closed the gate behind me as I was leaving, forcing me to climb back up the stairs. Not the best impression.
On the positive side, the room was clean and spacious. We paid the pet fee for our kitten, who had plenty of space. The breakfast ladies—especially the ones preparing the eggs—were absolutely wonderful. Very kind, warm, and helpful each morning. A small improvement would be to offer a gluten-free bread option on request, even if kept frozen in the back.
The windows also felt a bit exposed unless the blinds were fully closed.
Overall, the hospitality from the night staff and breakfast team stood out, but inconsistent service and lack of an elevator affected the stay.
