Five star price, one star service, unreasonable host ruined holiday
We booked for 8 days of remote work. Left after 4 days because of ants, tiny fans that couldn't cool the house down, unreliable internet, and the host's terrible attitude. If you charge €227/night (incl fees) - the price of 5-star accommodation! - you should provide 5-star service.
Good:
- Spacious terrace with sea view. But! Next to a noisy road.
- Close to Olbia airport.
- Shaded carport.
Bad:
- No aircon. We asked the host about this in advance. He assured us that fans and a breeze cool the house down. There are only two small desk fans (~30 cm), not enough for ~75 sqm in August. You have to keep the windows (without mosquito netting) open, so mosquitos and centipedes come in. When we asked the host for more fans, he told us to take cold showers. Impossible while working or sleeping.
- On arrival, ants all over the kitchen counter as the house was cleaned 1 week before. The host didn't offer to clean, so we had to spray insecticides ourselves. Our morning ritual: clean up dead ants, then make coffee. Again: €227/night!
- Since we were working remote, we explicitly asked before booking about the WiFi. The host said it was fast and stable. The day of an important online meeting, the WiFi slowed to less than 0.5 Mbs - not enough to load emails, let alone have online calls. The host offered no help and had noone on site to help.
- As the listing shows, the kitchen is old, no dishwasher, kettle or toaster.
The property has potential, but not at this price, not with this host
