Location The apartment is close to the ski slopes and in the winter, guests can ski in and out. Sestriere (7-minute drive), which hosted the 2006 Winter Olympics, has a lot to offer throughout the year. In the winter months, the slopes around the resort suit skiers and snowboarders of all levels. There is cross-country skiing, heli-skiing, ice skating, motor sledging, dog sledging and snowshoeing. There is even an outdoor heated swimming pool which is open in the winter and summer seasons.
Summer visitors can go hiking through the forests and alpine meadows. There are numerous tracks for mountain biking at all levels, as well as tennis, golf and swimming. The area also hosts many festivals and events for all ages, including environmental initiatives and cultural evenings.
Great small apartment. We had one adult and two teenagers for 7 nights. One bunk bed (adult sized) and pull out sofa bed/double bed. Ski storage available downstairs, discounted ski hire from the ski shack just opposite - tell them you're staying in the Hermitage block. Literally closer to the ski lift than we even realised. Ski to door practically. 9am lift opening high season straight over the Sestriere. Or straight up the mountain and numerous runs back to the village. Not a lot to do in the evening. Suggest driving over to Sestriere for meals etc. Small shop nearby in the complex behind. Good for bread and dry goods. Daily sandwiches if you order day before.
