The property is built in the mission architecture style that is warm and inviting. Staff was helpful whenever I had questions. There was wine tasting in the main building from one of the local vineyards that I hadn’t visited before. The wines were delicious and went to downtown Sonoma to buy. I ate in the bar and spa. Food was fresh and well prepared. What I think the property should add are walking gardens. We did get the massages at the spa. The spa features the warm mineral water from under the property. That was enjoyable to partake. What I think the property should invest in are walking gardens. The grounds are primarily just buildings (rooms, spa, main entrance) with outdoor pool and fire pit seating areas. Gardens would enhance the spa atmosphere. Sonoma downtown is about 2 miles from the property. We did walk to the downtown, but there are sections without sidewalk. So, the walk was not as pleasant as it could have been. I learned later that the hotel has a trolley to downtown. Overall, the hotel is in a beautiful location in a quiet setting.

My favorite hotel in Sonoma

I come back to this hotel every time I'm in the Sonoma area. I love the spa the most. The rooms are fairly small & pricey, but it's an amazing property and I feel at home there. I've been coming here for over 13yrs now.

Beautiful hotel

Beautiful hotel, but the rooms feel a little dated. Staff was wonderful. Hotel pool needs better maintenance. It’s clean and hot, but lots of leaves in the pool and the chairs that need to be cleaned/removed more often. But overall, it’s a great hotel, nice location, delicious restaurants, and wonderful experience.

I have stayed here many times mostly for some girls trips. I decided to book a room to celebrate my 5 year anniversary with my husband. Unfortunately I became extremely sick with covid and was unable to go, I understand there are cancellation policies however I had called to see if there was any way to move the date since I was sick. They were so rude about it and didn’t really seem to care and basically said too bad. If they couldn’t do anything I get it , but the lack of care or empathy was what was upsetting and has caused me to never want to go back here. There are plenty of spas to choose from I just won’t be returning here and will rebook my anniversary trip else where. We were pretty excited to celebrate our anniversary here since we got married 2 weeks before the pandemic shutdown we always like to do something special.

Staff at the property were well trained but the staff at the spa were not at the same level. Think it is not operated by Fairmont and it shows in the service and cleanliness. It is pretty expensive for a poor experience. People that came in after us decided to leave as it did not “meet the experience they were looking for” Restaurant food was excellent. Check out what the resort fee covers before you arrive.
